It's official. China has banned Celtic Radio from their main search engine:

http://www.baidu.com/

We are not listed at all, but interesting other Political Correct Celtic websites are listed.

We take our inspirations from a famous black civil rights leader who thought the best way to get attention and vindication was to (and I quote) "irritate, irritate and irritate."

We will not support those that do not support freedom of thought, individuality and the freedom to express yourself without fear of oppression.

You have got to be kidding me! How politically subversive can we be?

Maybe they ought to build that great wall all the way around themselves and just stay there without any contact with the outside world...

They tried isolation before...it did not work.

I have isolated myself from China for a long time. I buy nothing that is manufactured there. Things I buy cost more but I make them last longer. If we all did that China would not be a fiscal enemy. The Chinese leaders and their actions speak volumes about Socialists, Communists and Marxists.

The chinese are on the verge of economic collapse as we are and they obviously fear our capitalistic ideas. They built infrastructure for a boom which did not come and their financial position now suffers.

There are many Chinese here who still have contact with friends and family there. They are rushing to bring family members to this country "any way they can" as they feel they will fare better here than in their homeland. That means a lot of dollars that were sent back to family members in China will stay here thus more economic stress for China.

Actually, I have seen little mention of China on this site. other than the sea food, pet food and baby formula contamination issues. Maybe a bit on prices.

I have a niece who was adopted from China at ge 5 and is now a teen ager about to graduate and go on with her education. She has become a dedicated capitalist! She developed friends (those from the orphanage were not to be located) there on the net over the years and talking with her is enlightening. The entire net is being squeezed a bit now.

This will probably be more fuel for their fire I suppose.

Next to watch is Russia. They are watching us closely!

After a bit of checking I found that things can still get past the ban but depending on how serious the govt is about it, it might be dangerous. I suspect that some CR content is still getting through.

Not surprising, I suppose. I don't mind Taiwan, but I too try not to buy anything from Mainland China - either at work or at home.

Maybe if Celtic Radio played some John Denver they would appreciate it more, biggrin.gif Country Road was the only Western Music allowed to play on the radio there for a number of years. walkman.gif

I too find less value in the items made in China but I also find it difficult and costly to try and exclude all their goods from my household.

Not surprising. When we were there last year, it was amazing how many sites were blocked as we used our computer. It is a beautiful, terribly sad country.

Freedom to speak or even think is absolutely discouraged.
