Say Hey to the lovely people...HEY from SW Florida. Introduced to Irish music by my neighbor as a young teen and then found Steeleye Span around 1970 and it kindled a love affair with Celtic music that has only grown greater as the years have passed. Uilleann pipe music and Tribal drums and pipes get me going. I am a 2nd generation Swede by half and English and Welsh by the other half with a distant tie to the Shetlands. My lovely wife is as Irish as the day is long.

Welcome to a great site for all things celtic. Liked your first pic of the pint, but the second is possibly better. The t-shirt says it all. Who's the fine lad with you? I've always had a hard time wrapping my head around hockey in Fla. Are you grooming the lad for the ice?
The little tyke was the youngest of 8 grand children until last week when our son and his fiancé had a precious little angel to melt everyone's hearts. We also have another one due right after Christmas and she will be the little tykes little sister. 6 kids and soon to be 10 grand kids. Our 2 youngest boys are the hockey players, with the youngest to lead his D2 college team in goals and points for 3 years in roller and also D3 on ice for his last year. Our other son is a head equipment manager in the AHL after trying to play Juniors for several years (5'6" goalies don't get to far no matter how good they can be). Alas the little tyke has no interest in sports per se, but he is my best bud and whatever he wants to do will be fine with me, they're all different and they're all wonderful in their own way...Here in SW Florida, everybody is from somewhere and that somewhere is Up North and they most miss hockey quite a bit. The boys have been playing since they were 8 and 9 years old. Now we only get to watch them play once or twice a year when they get together to play in an adult tournament...Oh how I miss watching them play since that time till now...

Thank you for sharing. It appears you have enough to keep you busy and out of trouble. That's a good thing. May I ask what AHL (NHL affiliate) your son works for? The Tampa Bay GM is one of my all time favorite former Red Wings It appears they have a very good organization.
Busy yes, but alas, hardly out of trouble...after all, when you get to be my age all your filters seem to disappear. I mean no harm and no foul to anyone and wish only good will towards all but for crying out loud it's quite hard sometimes... All the best to you and yours also, raise a pint and offer a dram and good health to ya...
Old age is a myth perpetrated on the young by the old to scare them into making better decisions so as to have less regrets when they get old. Certainly not for the faint of heart, over rated by some, under rated by most. Aside from the lack of scratch, I'm having the best time of my life...Skol, brother
I've always said that age is just another number and you are as young as you feel. I'm excited to turn 66 next year and retire soon after. Opening a new chapter to my life looking forward to the many new experiences I hope it brings. Planning to move from Chicago area to Santa Fe to get "back to my Hippie Roots".
I thank all of ya'll for the warm welcome, this is a lovely place to hang out, just like the old corner tap rooms of old...Munchkin, make sure you plan properly and retirement will be just grand...Cheers
Oh, yeah, Skinner...I bet we could swap a few stories! I learned more about myself at college than I learned out of any book! I got to experience the wonder of Woodstock on a very small scale then lived in Brigadoon for a number of years. That's where I developed my love of all things Celtic...especially the music. Then reality did, indeed, intrude. Those are wonderful memories.............
five4 - retirement planning hasn't been my strong suit. The kids still derail my attempts to save. I'm retiring next year anyway. I don't need much to be happy......a place to live, my books, my crafts and I'm a happy camper!
