A New Year and new projects to keep Celtic Radio at the fore front of technology.

It is apparent to us that Facebook will be the defacto social network for sometime to come. Google owns search; Facebook owns Social Networking and Microsoft and Apple own everything else! biggrin.gif

Over the next week we will be finetuning the Celtic Radio website to contain a number of facebook plugins. From LIKE and RECOMMEND buttons, to COMMENT Buttons, LIVE STREAMS and FACE PILES.

So, the idea is when you are checking out Celtic Radio you can share it with your friends on Facebook. This will not only help people find Celtic Radio, but will also make available on facebook some of our resources for musicians.

We've already started on our main pages, look for these plugins to show up in our forum and other pages during the next week!

Don't use facebook, it is the scourge of the web and society.

There was a time that I would have agreed. I've been working with HTML-based web design since Windows 98.

When the Facebook thing came around I did not participate. My wife and oldest daughter, both, jumped on the train. They drug me for quite a few miles, before I conceded that it had a purpose.

My daughter set-up the facebook account for Teton & District, and let her run it for quite awhile. Now, I'm finally starting to mes with it a bit. Social networking has its place in the world. smile.gif

Yea real handy for the cops and government!
Show you my age I still have Win 97 some where around here and I used to program on punch cards and in Basic.
I have low friends in high places who concur with me on social media, makes their jobs easier!
I will never use it!

I agree with you Shadows. I guess we have been swept up into this technology void. It's probably going to get worse, before it gets better.

I remember programming punch cards in school. Amazing. Things are going to get insane real fast now that we are on the technology road that will see our technology advance faster than all of history.

The question is will it be used for good or evil. That's always the battle....

But... is this not social media?? I guess I have a thought or two about it.

1) I'm not crazy about our government anymore than anyone else. With that said, don't put anything on the net that you don't want read.

2) I give our government no reason to consider me an "enemy of the state", except, of course, we are White, Christian, heterosexual, home-schooling, gun-toting Constitutionalist. Other than that we have nothing to worry about.

Remember... Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!

Guys, I just had to wade in to this discussion. While I agree 100% with Shadows from my own perspective, I also see the enormous benefits with this type of media. As usual with our society, if a little is good more MUST BE better. Most of my relatives and some of my friends (yes I have a couple) are on facebook. Growing up we didn't have a phone let alone a camera also with us. The few times when someone would have a camera at a get together there would be pictures for memories. Memories are good. Do I really need to see every time two or more people are together, pictures of their food or one of them with their mouth wide open and tongue sticking out. There, I feel better already. CelticRadio are you old enough to remember punch cards?
