Celtic Radio Community > Celtic Music > Need Help Identifying A Song

Posted by: DazzleKitty 07-Mar-2012, 01:38 AM
Hey everyone!

I am new to this community. I am actually a total newbie to Celtic music in general though I've always liked the style. I am looking more into the genre.

Anyways, I have a very odd question. There is a song I am trying to identify. Where I heard it? Believe it or not, a slot machine at a casino. The song is so gorgeous that there is no way the song was created specifically for this slot machine.

Here is a video of it with the song:

I am pretty sure it's a Celtic style song. I am new to this genre.

If you can help me find this song, I will be indebted to you for the rest of my life, LOL. It's suck in my head constantly and I need to find where I can get it!

Thanks in advance

It is familiar...perhaps a Loreena McKennitt song? I can almost hear bagpipes playing it in my head, though. Hmmm.

I would look into Loreena's music and see if you can find it there, and I'll keep my "ears open" since I listen to Celtic music all day and if I hear it, I'll be sure and let you know!

Got it, I think! I just requested Chi Mi Na Morbheanna on Highlander Radio because I thought that might be it, and I think it is smile.gif

Here's a live version by MacTalla Mor. See what you think (bear in mind this is a cell phone recording and the game's song is a techno type):

Vixie, I think that may be it!

I wonder who did the version on that machine, though? I've been googling instrumentals for this song with no luck. The sung version is nice and I see lots of good versions of it, but I am wanting to find this version. I wonder what the chances of that are?

Thanks so much you guys for the help. smile.gif If anyone has any other comments or suggestions please pipe in.

Try it under the English version "The Mist-Covered Mountains of Home". wink.gif

Been looking for a while. Seems like this is gonna be a challenge. Usually I can find almost any song I am looking for, but I think this version is going to elude me for good. I hate to think it was just made for this slot machine. Surely there must be a full version of it somewhere on the net.

Thanks again for the suggestions. smile.gif

Hey guys,

I thought instead of making another thread, I'd post here again. I found this version of the song and I really loved it and bought the mp3 from Amazon.

I like their rendition of the song. The style of singing along with the instruments they used its wonderful. Can anyone recommend me some singers/bands like them? Thanks in advance.

I recommend Talitha MacKenzie, she was the singer in Mouth Music.

This was also turned into a song called "Hush Hush (Time to be Sleeping)" by Jim McLean and recorded by the Corries:
