BREEZE
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Feel the breeze on your face
Moving you hair

Smell the flowers on the breeze
So fresh and wonderful

See the leaves rustled by the breeze
Nature doing its “hair”

Hear the whistle of the breeze
As it goes past the buildings

How amazing is that breeze
That can do so many things?
The breeze that makes us
Use almost every sense.

What else can you think of
That does all of this?

Faeries
© Dianne Barskey 2007
Mystical creatures
Woodland folk
Butterfly faerie
Dragonfly faery
Wee ones

So many names for
Such interesting creatures.
Fairies portrayed in so many ways.

So many no longer believe in you.
I want to have many of you
Surrounding me all the time.

Tooth fairy
Fairy godmother
Tinkerbell

Romanticized for today's beliefs
Not receiving the respect you deserve.
Somehow we must get people to
See and believe in what is
Not seen.

OCEAN RELAXATION
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Ocean surf
Ebbing and flowing
On the beach and off

Bringing seashells
And seaweed
Scenting the air with salt

Soothing sounds
Of the surf
And the seagulls

Seagulls laughing
At who knows what
Dolphins jumping in the waves

Lay back on the sand
Listen to all the sounds
Soothing, relaxing
Bringing peace to a harried mind

LOSS
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Loss of a loved one is so hard to comprehend
You are never ready for their life here to end
You do not want them to suffer
But their leaving is rougher
And you can not imagine how you will mend

Friends try to comfort and soothe
Their words seem too smooth
They mean the best
But you are distressed
Try to remember that they want to soothe

The suffering has ended for your loved one
It is hard to see them in their coffin
Know that they are not there
But do not despair
They are with someone more sovereign

REFLECTIONS
©Dianne Barskey 2007

There are so many kinds of reflections
Reflections on the surface of water
Reflections in a mirror
Reflections of yourself in someone else

There are also the reflections
We each have inside
Reflections of the past
Reflections of those we love
Reflections of what we have survived

The reflections of survival
Are the most important
They help us through everyday
When we are at our lowest
Is when we need to pull out
That resource and use it

We can learn so much from
Our past experiences
They help us to not repeat
The same mistakes over
The more we listen to our
Inner voice that says
“Don’t do that! You already learned
That lesson,” the better we will be

FOREST
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Trees everywhere you look
Touching the sky
Leaves shimmering in the sun

Toadstools and moss
Wild flowers of many kinds
Bowing in reverence at the bases

Fairies hiding among the flowers
Waiting for the next bloom
To show itself
So they can help it along

Toads standing watch
Waiting for the next fly
To buzz by

Insects crawling this way and that
Through the forest litter
Looking for their next morsel

So many sounds
Crickets, birds, toads, frogs
Trees, leaves, wind

So busy yet so peaceful

FLOWERS
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Beauty in scent
Beauty in color
Beauty in shape

Stems holding the flowers tall
Leaves collecting the sun for food
Roots drawing in the water

Making people feel better
Showing love
Helping houses smell better

Faeries love them
They live among them
Insects rely on them
Beautifying the world

Flowers do so many things
We need to protect them
We need to nurture them
Please guard our planet

LEAVES
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Green leaves of summer
Turning gold and red in fall
The first signs that winter
Will be here soon.

Drifting, twisting, turning
Closer to the ground
One by one they fall

SUNSET
©Dianne Barskey 2007

The end of another day
Time to spend with family and friends
The sun goes down
Dusk begins

The moon rises
The stars twinkle
Constellations shine

The day comes to a close
Tomorrow is another day
You start over at sunrise

SUNSHINE
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Find a little sunshine
In all that you do.
That little bit of sunshine
Can make a big difference.

Sunshine is important to everyone.
It makes us strong.
It can make us happy.

There are times when it is hard
To bear the sunshine.
These are the times when
We must try harder to see the good.

Sadness, depression, whatever you call it,
Makes it difficult to go through a day.
Sunshine can seem to add to the problem.
You have to remember that the sunshine
Is the gods way of reminding us
That we are good and worthwhile.

We are people with feelings.
Feelings that are more sensitive ,
But we are still worthy of everything
That others give us.

WATER
©Dianne Barskey 2007

Trickling
Babbling
Rushing
Roaring
Crashing

Listen to the water
As it speeds on its way
What is it saying to you?

Is it saying relax?
Is it saying calm yourself?

Whatever it is saying
You better be listening
It is wise and can help you.

Just sit and listen to the water.
Sit and relax, let your mind
Recover from the stress.

Thank you very much, sir. I write these to get through difficult times. I am sure that there are more in the works.

I have been concentrating on a writing course that I am taking. The course requirements are for longer writings.

Thank you very much. I will keep writing. I have found a new source for ideas, my dreams. I never bothered to write them down until last week so now I am going to use them for story lines.

I enjoy my poetry and try to make it useful to someone. I would love to find a way to put it all into a book and get it published.

Thank you. I do plan on writing for as long as I am able and then maybe using voice recognition software on the computer.
