Looking for some help and advice to get Celtic Radio listed in Wikipedia. Unfortunately, everytime we submit an article on Celtic Radio, it gets deleted by the Wikipedia volunteer editors.

It is currently marked for deletion and there is a debate going on if it should be deleted. You can see the debate here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Celtic_Radio_(2nd_nomination)

Our Wikipedia article is here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Radio

If anyone can offer any help or assistance, it would be much appreciated. We are just about ready to give up trying to get Celtic Radio listed in Wikipedia.

I think it has to do with the format of the article itself and the references. The cited references end up back here at Celtic Radio versus being from the actual source. This would indicate that something is made up lending credence to the thought that the article is advertising for the station. And hence a violation of article rules for spam. If you used references from the source and minimized links to the site would be better.

I would also suggest emphasizing the history of the station, get into station membership number increases, and highlight some of the musicians. This would also take away from the spam feel of the article.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I think I am definitely doing something wrong, although there are a few articles I was reviewing for other Celtic music stations which pretty much had the same feel. I think the most recent comments will result in a speedy deletetion! biggrin.gif

Ok, back to the drawing board!

I have looked and looked and I don't see any difference. I think it's bahoey. lol. It says in there it isn't getting very many hits in the search.

I think stevenpds idea is a good one, but honestly some of the other stations are "spamming" I don't really see yours as a SPAM and I don't understand what the problem is. Why can't they just be up front?

Well worst is they delete it then start again providing they don't block you. I'll be curious to see what happens with this. I didn't start a wiki as I figured it would be more trouble than it was worth but I understand and I think that Celtic Radio should be on this list.

Hang in there wish I could be of more help.

Thanks Rindy! smile.gif I think I am starting to understand. I guess it is a violation of their service to post an article named "Celtic Radio" when your username is "Celtic Radio"

I might try Stephens suggestion this winter and write an article more going over the history. Also will make a new account with a different name and see if we can get listed.

We have alot of firsts on here such as the first Celtic Music internet radio to have listener generated top ten count downs and it would be good to get credit for that at Wikipedia.

Your welcome.
That's the way I read it as well with the name. I'm sure there's a lot of bands that would back this station up. And the history that is posted here on the forums you won't find anywhere else. I'm sure a lot of folks out there will agree that Celtic Radio should be on wiki. It will take you awhile I'm sure to gather all the information. I'd be happy to help if I can.

Don't you folks think Celtic Radio should be on wiki? I wonder if we get a petition with folks signing it and bands backing the station if that would help. Just a thought. What do you all think we should do as you are part of the station as well?

If you're going to try this again, notice that celticradio.net is being used by wikipedia as an external reference.
