Hi Everyone,
Who do you all think the best Celtic bar band of all time is?
My personal favorites are the Pogues (of course) Dropkick Murphy’s, Flogging Molly, and MacTalla Mor. You guys agree or disagree?

NOOOO!! It's BarleyJuice. The Dropkicks might come in second of that group but not even a close second.

i like mine a little more traditional so i would say prolly barleyjuice...
me thinks they mix the "now" and the "then" together to a nice brew that doesnt loose its rootsy feeling ... mostly... note.gif

I would have to go a little more old school Irish. The Clancy Brothers or The Dubliners. beer_mug.gif

A great list of bands mentioned so far, but the best celtic "bar" band I have seen is Kilbrannan out of Western New York. Although they are no longer together, their combination of Scottish and Irish
drinking songs, traditional and original tunes, audience participation and humor made for a fun filled night everytime I saw them perform.

I tried to answer this...I really did. The title caught me as I love drinking almost as much as music, so I started mentally creating an order to see who would be #1, but I couldn't decide so I picked one at random....
The Bloody Irish Boys

I won one of their CDs on here a couple years ago. Played it once and shot it with my .22.

I am not sure, but I do feel that the dropshite murphys should be kicked to death.

Best pub band I've seen is the band that does not exist. It's the group of musicians that turn up on any given night and just play for the pure enjoyment of it. There is a pub not to far from me that has such a "house band" of sorts, but it's never the same group night to night. That's my favorite band.

I hae played in bands like tha, the joy of music draws the real musicians, it takes money to get Professional Artists
