What do you mean you should not ask?! That is totally ridiculous! Here is an answer to your question. we have here in AZ a book store that Diana goes to frequently to sign books, etc.. It is called "The Poisioned Pen" and is located in Scottsdale, AZ. If you want a specific book and it to be signed, then here is the link to do so. Hope this helps!
When you contact the folks, albeit email or phone (I would recommend the latter), tell them what book you want and what you want Diana to sign on it. I have done it and it works! Hope it works for you as well! if you need more help, let me know!
Now, I have to sit down and look at my budget - shipping to Canada can be a real killer! They sure have an interesting lot of books that we likely don't get in our small town.
Always glad to help. I am not a big Lord John fan, but I am sure I will get the book and read it regardless. I just wish Diana Gabaldon had chosen to write about more interesting characters (to me) like Dougal and Murtagh, to name a few! But hey! I am not the creator and author of these characters so the person who is has to do what she feels called to do, eh?
Please pardon my foolishness again, but is Lord John a character that has already been written about? Do Jamie and Claire come across Lord John in one of Diana's stories?
I remember thinking that I would like to have known more about Fergus.
Hey, no problem, gcw57. It has been about 2-1/2 years since I have read the books so here goes. Lord John was not a major character in the early books. I wish I could remember which novel he was first introduced. But since then, the author, has chosen to write a series about him...I believe about three.
So, no, you are not being foolish. It is very hard to keep up with the books, let alone the side novels Gabaldon writes. If you hear anything new or different, let us know!
Thanks gwenlee. I remember Lord John being in Voyager, but couldn't remember if he was first introduced in that book or not.
Well, I have lots of news to share with y'all! Your going to love this, if you don't already know.
Diana is releasing the latest Lord John book this month, “Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade.”
As all you Galbaldon fan’s are aware, Diana’s latest book in the “Outlander” series is book 6, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”.
Well I have some even more special news to share!
Last week, some friends of mine went to Ontario, Canada to attend the Fergus Highland Games. Diana Gabaldon was there doing a book signing and spoke before an audience her future plans regarding the Outlander series. I copied excerpts from what a friend wrote regarding that talk from Diana. Here goes and hope you enjoy!
“Diana mentioned that she has written the beginning and the end of Book 7. And guess what? There will be a book 8! Yay!!!!!!!!
Many of us were lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade in which Jamie plays quite a large role.
Someone asked if we'll hear more from Frank and Diana said yes and that he may even get his own book somewhere down the line.
The most popular question seems to be about getting a movie made. I've heard this over the years and Diana's response but this time around she said that they were in "serious" discussions with a very well known production company that has made some very well received movies. She couldn't mention who they were because they're still ironing out the details but she will, of course, let us know on her website if anything comes to fruition. She said that this looks quite promising!! Someone asked if the production company was from the UK and she said no.
Something else I found very interesting was her answer to what her most favourite and least favourite book was in the series. She said that her favourite book is always the one she's just written and so at this point Brotherhood of the Blade is her favourite. Her least favourite, although not that she doesn't like the book but it's the one that she's least satisfied with, is The Fiery Cross. The reason being that she did not have the opportunity to edit the book as she usually does. There seemed to be a "civil war" raging between two editors (or publishing company - I can't quite remember) and they wanted the book out very fast. Diana said that if she had the time to edit the book properly it would have been about 40,000 words shorter.
Diana is also working on a Graphic Novel (which is basically a comic book for adults) and it is from Murtagh's pov.
And another worthy mention is the prequel. This will consist of a trilogy of novellas. The first will be about Colum and Dougal, the second will focus on Brian and Ellen's relationship and the third will be about Murtagh.”
Well, that’s all folks, but some pretty exciting things to come, eh?
You are definitely in the loop and I do thank you for sharing! Maybe I should just go back and reread the entire series so I'll remember some of the charactors.
Wow CR thanks for all that information. I am soooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!! More books plus a possible movie, And a book 8 of the Outlander series..can it get any better than that? YAY!!!!!

Way to go, Celtic Rose!
That is exactly what I have been doing for the last month, rereading the books. I know that the new one in the outlander series won't be here for awhile, but with the new lord john series coming out, I want to remember all he was about. I also thought aobut re-reading the private matter one as well.
