My short time as a member of this site has inspired me to return to my writing. Though words are still torturous to me, I am attempting to translate a few of my old poems to Irish for a new project i am working, mostly for the fun of it and the beauty. my only translation tool at this time is a computer generated translator which i don't really trust because a computer can't convey the emotion of the poem.
(please forgive my ignorance in this subject, it is my pledge that it will not last long.)
Thank you

(the original)
You laugh like music,
And pass like night,
Swift and sweet,
You kiss like light.

Thou rare mysterious graceful muse,
All hearts you'll charm,
But few hearts choose.

Hair like a new copper kettle,
Your eyes the ocean's tide,
Skin the color of rose wood,
Oh, How i wish you were mine.

But nothing can contain you,
Neither magic nor strength of man,
So forever we shall be parted,
Each to dwell in our homeland.

(What i have so far)
Tá tú gáire cosúil le ceol,
agus pas a fháil ar nós oíche,
sciobtha agus milis,
tú póg cosúil le solas,

Tá tú muse annamh graceful mistéireach,
gach chroí go mbainfidh tú draíocht,
ach croí beag a roghnú.

Gruaige cosúil le copar citeal nua,
do shúile na farraige ar taoide,
craiceann an dath adhmaid rós,
Oh, conas is mian liom a bhí tú mianach.

Ach is féidir rud ar bith go bhfuil tú,
Ní draíochta ná neart de dhéantús an duine,
mar sin go deo beidh orainn a bheith parted,
gach a dwell in ár dtalamh bhaile.

the phrasing is probably all wrong too.
I welcome any help you can give
Rhonda
