We are just about ready to release a better Instant Messaging Utility that will make communcations between members a whole lot easier and faster.

"CelticRadio.net Messenger" is a trimmed down version of our popular messaging system that will be available in a pop-up window, so you can quickly and easily send private messages to your online friends without the need to go into your control panel and lose your current place in the forum.

We have already released part of this upgrade. Any new messages that you receive a pop-up message will have the new "CelticRadio.net Messenger" as the default message client. Over this weekend we will be changing all of the 'PM" (private message) links to utilize the new messenger software and also including this new feature in our drop down member services menu.

You will still be able to access your regular "full featured" messenger by clicking on "My Controls" on the member bar.

A review of our private messaging statistics shows that from April 2003 - July 2003 between 1 - 5 private messages would be sent per day. Here are the latest stats on private messages this month!

February 27th - 65
February 26th - 108
February 25th - 69
February 24th - 59
February 23rd - 120
February 22nd - 134
February 21st - 45
February 20th - 62
February 19th - 49
February 18th - 61
February 17th - 41
February 16th - 84
February 15th - 40

That is nearly 1000 private messages in less than 12 days! Since this seems to be a popular service of our site, we decided to make it easier to stay in touch with your friends at CelticRadio.net!

Once the new messaging software is fully implemented, we will post a message here.

The new CelticRadio.net messenger is now available from the "Member Services" drop down menu, the topic post message and from the member profile. Give it a try and any feedback would be appreciated.

Annabelle, when will you learn, if you want to post incognito you've got to cover that red hair!

MacFive! This is great news! Having dial up, I don't get PMs that quickly and unless I look to see if I have any PMs, I may miss it altogether! Thanks so much for everything! beer_mug.gif thumbs_up.gif

Paul, found a slight glitch with the new PM.

We have been PMing all day and every once in a while when a message is sent, it doesn't take the whole message. Sometimes it will have random missing words or sometimes complete lines will be missing. It doesn't happen all the time. Between Annabelle and I, we must have sent 50 PM's today. Maybe 1 out of 10 would be missing words or complete lines.

Not sure if I saved any of those messages. Let me know if you need a sample and I'll go back and check.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to try this out and see if I can duplicate it. Where they long messages or short messages? Where you using any weird charactors, like smilely faces and such? Really it is designed as only a text messaging.

I know I was doing alot of server reboots yesterday and work on the servers, but it still could be something in the coding or maybe database connections.

Still, let me know if this happens again and if you could save the message so I can look it up and see what goofed up.

We were just doing simple conversation. Some short, some long. No smileys involved.

I don't have time right now to retrieve any of the messages. I'll check it later on and see what I have.

Mike

I'm not sure if the message will really help, but thanks for bringing this up. If anyone else has the same problem, would appreciate a post here.
