Okay....what is going on????? This is the third time in 10 minutes that I've been kicked off of CR in the middle of typing in the Forums. I had to go back to Internet Explorer to Log back into CR !! mad1.gif And yes, my Browser Cache & Cookies have been cleared during all those occurences.

Are you guys working on the Servers again??

Make that the 4th time now......

It could be any number of things from a storm knocking down phone lines to an accidental bump to upgrades to the game. Everything seems to be working just fine now.

Don't you just hate when you can't wander around here for awhile and forget your troubles?

It was just a plain terrible day. The underlying problem had to do with something called DNS - the nameservers from our ISP where on the fritz all day. We have switched to different nameservers, so hopefully that will resolve the problem. Waiting to hear back from our ISP. There is a remote possibility it could be our router on the fritz.

Dissappointing to have the Christmas music down all day, but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Same problem here; had trouble into the site ~ I do know that there has been issues lately, but I know it is being taken care of, just takes time !

Of course, Celtic Rock, Celtic Moon, etc. played just fine all day. Unless 365 also goes down, you can still get your CR music fix. (BTW, I've bookmarked these on Winamp so I don't even have to go through 365's website.)

I have the link stored on iTunes at my parents' house so I can listen when I'm there.

Celtic Radio is back up again tonight. Spoke with our ISP and there appears to be a card at the access point down the street that is malfunctioning. They have dispatched COVAD and hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Can not say for sure these problems are resolved until we here back from our ISP but atleast we are up for now.

The site seems to be working fine now. I really appreciate your efforts in resolving the situation.

Thanks

I have noticed the up to 20 second delay I was experiencing to connect to the CR.net website is now gone. I suspect your ISP has had an intermittent equipment problem for awhile. Hopefully the defective equipment has finally gone into complete failure mode and can be repaired or replaced.

Posted by: Leelee 13-Dec-2009, 10:49 AM
I too concur, the Site is working much better now. I can understand your frustration. I hope all the equipment is in good order now, so we can enjoy some of the Christmas Season listening to the beautiful music, while visiting our CR friends. Thank you for all that you do to make this an enjoyable site to visit smile.gif newyear.gif

I haven't been able to listen to Highlander Radio this evening. I get the commercial at the beginning and that's it! Please let me know what to do!

Thanks,

Try refreshing the site. If that does not work, I then reload all of CR without deleting the old. If the new reload works I then delete the old parts.

Should be noted the IRCD still seems to be down, and ssh seems closed, so I can't get in to fix it.

Posted by: CelticRadio 14-Dec-2009, 06:26 PM
In addition to our connectivity issues we also replaced our router and sure enough we forgot to enable the chat port!!!

Its up and running now. Our apologies!

Woohoo, Highlander Radio works again, and I didn't have to do anything. Maybe it was just a glitch?

We still are seeing a 6-12 hour connection issue where we lose our connection for about 10 secs to as many as 60 secs.

Not sure yet if this is our modem or our ISP.

MTU might be the issue, we tried lower that to 1472.

We are still experiencing issues with our ISP - connection drops. This is going to effect our broadcast. Our apologies we are working on this issue.

Posted by: CelticRadio 18-Dec-2009, 10:22 PM
We seemed to have a good day without any drops.

Isolated one problem being our new router appears to get overloaded with wireless connections at our location. That was one reason for the broadcast dropping and the site unavailable. Have off loaded the wireless to a netgear access point and it seems to be doing the trick.

All together we have 4 boxes; DSL2 Dlink modem, Cisco router, Dlink Gigabit switch and a netgear wireless access point running the network. Appears with the amount of traffic we have spreading the load across these 4 boxes provides increase capacity. I am sure just running on 1 routers CPU would overload it.

Interesting concept. For now, we are noticing a big increase in speed across our entire network. Keeping fingers crossed with this new setup.

Without getting too technical, our ISP has made some changes (at our request) which have fixed the problem (for now) of the stream dropping.

These are long standing issues which we believe was the root of the connectively issues with Highlander Radio.

We should experience better quality of listening and fewer drops, if any - going forward.

Thanks for your patience.

Here is the update. Our line is not stable. Our goal is to fix this which is going to require some work and research. Therefore, we will have a few periods each day where our connection will go down and you will not be able to access the site for about 30 seconds. Unfortunately, our stream Highlander Radio will drop also during these connection issues

Update from our ISP

QUOTE

The line is accumulating a small amount of downstream errors, 529 cells out of 1,151,731 sent from the central office to the modem.
You should not even notice them, as they are not significant on a statistical basis.

I am sorry, I meant to update prior to now. The line is still accumulating errors, unfortunately it does not appear that it will be steady at this rate. I would suggest your giving us a call when you get an opportunity for a thorough trouble shooting session.

Posted by: CelticRadio 27-Dec-2009, 06:31 PM
Stability has improved on our line. We have been monitoring our broadcast drops which seem to be non-existent for a 2-3 day period. Possible some of the errors were related to ice and snow issues.

So, good news. We should be all set going forward with a much more improved Highlander Radio.

Has anyone else had to double click back to get to the previous page?
I noticed yesterday, and still today. It is only this site, so I'm sure it's not my computer.

I had a couple of minor problems, (site hung up briefly) but do not remember what I was doing at the time. As long as I am not bumped off the site, I survive.

Currently not having that problem. You might try clearing all your caches and cookies.

A really good program that does that and more is advanced system care:

Patch

We've had some storms in the area past 24 hours. High winds 50-60 mph and flooding, so it might be effecting the sight, but right now everything seems to be working fine.

Still only happens on CR. Not on any other site.
