Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)

This is a very good thread and I appreciate Rindy for getting it started!
As for my little clan, we'll be staying local and hopefully safe, so my prayers and blessings go out to each of you who are travelling and to those of you who share your homes with family, friends and perhaps just plain strangers - may God bless you with his love and kindness and may all who dwell under your roof be a blessing to you!
Madadh's comments make me very happy - all is good and you, my friend, are so greatly blessed - it's good to count one's blessings!
Here's looking at 2007 - may the coming year be filled with hope and peace!
I'd like to wish everyone, a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. May the good Lord Bless you all.
Madadh, how wonderful for you and your family, to have your Son back from Iraq and home for Christmas. My youngest Son was there we missed one Christmas with him there. And now my Grandson (My oldest Sons Son) is in Iraq now he's with a Recon Unit! got a phone call from him the other day he's doing well.
May the Lord richly bless your Son for his service to our country and I thank him.
Again a Very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

DISCIPLINE MUST BE A HABIT SO INGRAINED THAT IT IS STRONGER THAN THE EXCITEMENT OF BATTLE OR THE FEAR OF DEATH. General George S. Patton
Laws that forbid the carrying of firearms, disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assulted, and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourge, than to prevent homicides. For an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
Just to let everyone know, my grandson Connor was born 8pm yesterday. He weighed in at 7lbs 11 oz and was 21 inch long. Mother, baby, and grandma are doing fine.
P.S. Antonio, my prayers are with you and your family while your loved ones are in Iraq. My son was there for 16 months doing combat operations so I know how you feel. Just know that they have some of the greatest equipment infantryman have ever had and that they are generally safer there than in most of our major cities.
