Background: The last Henderson Chief at Glencoe was Dugald MacEanruig. The chiefship passed as a result of his daughter's marriage into Clan Donald. Iain, Her son and progenitor to the MacIans, established the MacEanruigs as the hereditary pipers for the MacDonalds of Glencoe. At the time of the Massacre, our Gaelic-speaking ancestors were the bodyguard to the Chief of Glencoe.
I've yet to trace my family back to Scotland and so am not sure if we hail from Glencoe ar not. I guess there were also some Hendersons from the Fordel region as well. I have to confess that we Hendersons of Lindcove California are a little conflicted in regards to the Glencoe massacre. Seems that my father married a Campbell and so I find myslef of mixed blood! Ugh! How to resolve this?
Anyway- it's the Henderson (paternal) side I like to identify with.
