When one grows up around and with firearms one tends to want to continue to own them.
Aren't generalizations fun, easy to believe even if they aren't true. I've known many who've grown up around guns and have no interest in them. One is me.

Yes, they are. Just like the one you posted. You persist in the fantasy that you are in the majority, but all of your posts point the other direction.

Hoka Hey! The more Liberals I meet, the more I like my dogs!

You're the one assuming. My post said "I've known many...." - how does that indicate that I believe I'm in a majority? Many is not a majority at all, in fact its a pretty subjective quantification, isn't it?

I took some pictures of the time at the range and the oldest is going to do a report on his "favorite outdoor" sport for English class. We are going to get into reloading and I will let him take one of my presses too. Nothing that goes bang of course. I already had it pre-approved. It is great to live where this is accepted and teachers who "rock the boat" are terminated.

Not just this post but all of them. You are either a delusional psychotic or a troll. I hope it's the latter as it's MUCH more fun to bait trolls than pick on the disabled!

Well, I can see you have profound disagreements with my points. Its unfortunate however that you seek not to counter them. I've been on this forum since 2005, and I've seldom seen so many posters rely so exclusively on acrimonious assaults in lieu of arguments. Do you know what a delusional psychotic is? Here's a clue, its a condition which entails far more than merely seeing issues differently from you. Its not so much the ease you bring to my life by not confronting points I've made in all my posts with argument, but the concomitant lack of challenge you afford yourself in so doing which is unfortunate. But if name calling is all you can manage, then so be it. Sad that the forum has deteriorated to this extent. There used to be good discussions here, heated at times but good. Now everyone wants nothing as much as a mutual back scratching society where everyone reinforces a collective set ordained realities and discredit without argument any dissenter. Sorry, but that's childsplay, but if your psychological needs predispose you to it, what can anyone say? If you'd actually read "all my posts" I think I've clearly demonstrated a lack of psychosis at the very least. I've made some cogent arguments over the years, and that opinion has been shared by others. I've even agreed with you on occasion Dogshirt. Perhaps those were the posts you thought were delusional and psychotic.
I do recall once upon a time, when this forum was a scary place to voice my thoughts and feelings. It was during the George W. Bush presidency and we all know how badly he got hammered throughout his presidency.
With that said, I was not a Bush supporter per se, however my conservative views were certainly not as welcome during that time as "conservative" was equated to "Bush" (who by the way was not all that conservative)...anyway I digress. I suspect it is the old proverbial, "shoe on the other foot" thing going on here. Instead of the majority hating on Bush, now the majority hates on Obama. Both groups felt/feel equally compelled to voice their disdain with the politics of the day. But discounting the entire forum because it does reflect a tone that resonates w/you at this time is unfair. And generalizing that all of us are attempting to discredit dissenting opinions may be a rationalization that is projected by the one who is experiencing the short-end of a debate. Sure we're going to fire back w/information or opinions that move to support our beliefs. However, we certainly do need to ensure that a feeding frenzy does not occur...I would hate to mirror some of the posts I saw during the Bush years but I fear it is so! Being in the minority of opinion is an uncomfortable position to be in, and at times extremely frustrating.

Jillian is right. Those who hated bush were worse than anything I have seen here in the last year. I do not know why because bush was a "democrat" He ran on the republican ticket but it did not make him a republican. Some of the democrats now certainly can whine and cry louder than the republicans ever did. I do not find the site scary as I just ignore those who are constantly attacking people. I find that in reality, they have nothing to say.

Thank you Jillian, now this is the kind of reasoned post that I've been missing! I remember those days too, when Bush was referred to as "the Shrub" and maligned unfairly, yet its unfortunate that instead of upholding a higher standard when the majority shoe is on the other foot, the same kind of posts predominate and are (rather laughingly) justified using the argument that the unfair and childish maligning of a former president justifies the same treatment of the current. Its the lack of intelligent discussion that is the problem, not the particular opinions of the posters. Calling someone a delusional psychotic troll lacks intelligence and discussion. Its unsupportable, especially given the history of my posts. I've been posting here fearlessly even though I seem to have the minority set of opinions, but my complaints are not mine alone. In fact, others have left the forum altogether for the same reasons and have told me they do not intend to return. No one expects the universal alignment of opinion, just free and open discussion of it, yet if a bunch of cognitive clones just want to reinforce one another's disgruntlements then I'll gladly find another forum, and all the agree-aholics who think I'm psychotic for having a different point of view can celebrate their arrested maturity unchallenged.
As you are aware I am from a country with a completely different political system which breaks down into 5 political philosophies. Conservative, Liberal, N.D.P.(socialist) Bloc Quebecois ( Quebec Separatists) And Green Party (Enviromentalist) . Of theses the Conservative, Liberal, and N.D.P. form the 3 mainsteam parties. The Bloc is a regional party primarily from Quebec who advocate independence for the Province, and The Green Party has yet to win a seat in Parliament, but they keep trying. Up until the 90s the Conservatives were called Progressive Conservatives,(without going into a history lesson) they are now the Conservative Alliance Party. They are in my opinion mostly Western Yankeephiles, but we won't get into that. Right now the Conservative form a minority Government with the Liberals as the main opposition Party. I am a Liberal but what we call a "Blue Liberal", otherwords a conservative Liberal whereas my two daughters are "Red Liberals" You should see it when the 3 of us get going, talk about fur flying. We argue, yell, curse and scream, then sit down have dinner and forget what the fuss was all about. Our arguments centre mainly around 3 topics: The Death Penalty, which I am for, Abortion which I am against (except under certain conditions) and Gay Marriages, on the last subject my daughters consider me a Neanderthal but as I tell then I am entitled to my opinion and as long as it is the Law of the Land I will obey, but I do not have to agree with it. The point is I guess that each of us has opinions and each of us has the right to express them. No one else should belittle or besmurch another for different views. Now you all know I like the people on the Form and in general I like Americans but there are time I could take some of you by the scruff of the neck and hold your heads under water. In other words at times Americans really P--- me off. I get over it and when I am in that condition I keep my mouth shut so as not to upset or provoke our cousins to the south. We can have arguements, differences of opinion and get angry but life is far to short to make all the fuss and bother worth while. Hey as the Vulcans say "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination"

That's what I'm talkin' about sounds similar to some of our family discourse...don't let anything get in the way of food and drink...

Whiskey and hot peppers man! I haven't had the flu in 35 years, and I belive it is because of that. By the way, you don't mix the two, just include them in your daily routine. A bit of whiskey at the end of the day and LOTS of peppers in your diet! They don't even have to be hot peppers, but bell peppers talk back to me something fierce, so I go with jalapenos, soranos and habaneros. Fresh, cooked or pickled, I love them all.
