I've had dogs all my life, lots of different breeds and classes, but my favorite, without question is the Jack Russell Terrier.

I've two of them now, and I've never had a dog that was as much fun as my JR's. They're wonderful little dogs, but they can be a lot of work. They require a lot of attention and exercise. If you can keep them from getting bored (and keep in mind that a bored JR is a destructive JR) you'll receive the most rewarding canine relationship you can imagine.

Don't let their small size fool you, Jack Russells make terrific watchdogs. They're very territorial, incredibly fierce and utterly fearless. Our female JR, Sally fought off a full grown Rottweiler that was going after my wife. Not bad for an 18 month old dog that weighed all of 11 pounds.

On the other hand they are wonderful little clowns as well. They are always up to something interesting, and retain a puppyish desire to play all their lives.

Our male, Chance (my avatar) is the sweetest, friendliest, most amiable little dog I've ever known. He's a complete mush and loves nothing more than to snuggle up with my wife (a trait we share). When I take him out for walks he gets very upset if we don't go say hello to everyone he sees.

I've had shepherds and retrievers, spaniels and hounds, but these little terriers have absolutely stolen my heart.

I should try to Post pictures of my dogs. we have a pomerainon , puglier , and a lab. Brandon (our puglier) is about 13 or 14. he acts like a puppy! in the backyard he can run faster than our 3 year old labrador , and hes three times his size! They are very energetic dogs. I would LOVE to have a wolfhound though I just love them. I think three dogs is enough for now. tongue.gif

Favorite Breed is Great Dane but German Shephard ranks right there with the top ones I love. Here is my first dog. Her name was Dunja and in this picture she is already 15 yrs old. She died approx 8 months after this picture was taken.

WOW 10 Irish wolfhounds! I think I'd be a little nervous if that many BIG dogs were charging at me also. unsure.gif

I don't see my favorite on the list, either -- English Shepherds! They're not very well-known, but still wonderful family dogs, and great with kids! They're cousins of Border Collies and Australian Shepherds, though more mellow when they should be (ie, when you need them to RELAX rolleyes.gif ). Here's the link, if you're interested.....

tongue.gif Thanks, Rindy. Our Holly looks a LOT like her dad - shaded sable, lots of browns, black, and white. Her mom is black and white, like border collies are. Will you forgive me if I post a picture of our girl??

I'm partial to Boston terriers but I never met a dog I didn't like. I'm also a big fan of boxers but they're kind of big for an indoors dog. BT's are more house friendly and cheaper to feed, lol. wink.gif
