I know I don't post in this forum all that often, but I do read in here quite often, so I hope you don't feel as if I am intruding by this... but I could use a bit of prayer and support.

As many of you know, I am all sorts of excited and stressed over planning my wedding in November, but here lately a shadow has decided to crop up and stress me even more. About a month back I hurt my ankle playing softball, and finally after 2 weeks of gimping on it, I went to the doctor. That has started a month worth of pain. The X-rays didn't show anything like a facture which is very good, and the bone scan looks to be just a bunch of inflamation. So we're looking at just a sprain. Not a big deal, except the doctor I am going to now is my new doctor. He's my fiancé's doctor and since we'll be going on his insurance, we decided I should start going there since my doctor quit. Dr. Hahn is a very thurough man, and decided to order some blood work up on me since I've been extremely. I've been diagnosed with Insulin Resistence since I was about 20, but when the tests came back this time, the doctor was concerned about it because it was extremely high and I hadn't had anything to eat for 12 hours before this test. So, he ordered a Glucose Tolerence Test - that's right, he's checking me for full fledged Diabeties. In my limited scope mind, I've gotten all grumpy about this because its inconvienent and also because I like my occasional sweets. So, here I sit with 6 bruises from each time they had to draw blood, and am worried about what the tests are going to show. Monday I'll find out what's going on, so if you could keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I'd appreciate it.

Hallo a ghràidh!
Hello dear!

I am so sorry to hear your bad news! Hang in there! As I have been reminded lately, He has promised to be with us, even unto the end of the way! He watches over the sparrows and clothes the grass! How much more does He care for us!

And, dear, you don't have to ask for my prayers, because they are with you (and all of my friends here) every night! smile.gif But I'll say a special prayer for you! You are loved, dear, and don't you forget it! smile.gif

*Hugs*

I will certainly keep you in my prayers. Bear in mind that while it will require some lifestyle changes, diabetes is a disease that can be dealt with. in the meantime, when you do eat carbohydrates, eat full grain wheat breads and pastas and try to stay away from the highly processed ones. The full grains have a lower glycemic index and do not affect your blood sugar as much.

Danann, our prayers are most definately with you. Take time to breathe and feel the warmth of the Savior as he wraps his loving arms about you. And take as many human hugs as you can get as well. You know our cyber hugs are with you.

Thanks everyone. It's been a blessing just to unload somewhere. I have been keeping a "stiff upper lip" around my fiancé and my family here, trying not to act worried, just stressed over the wedding. Of course my fiancé saw through that, and bought me an hour at a massage place. I guess when you are all worked up like this, its the little things that mean so much. Like all of you and the cyber hugs! Thanks a ton, it's made things a bit more bearable.

Aren't fiances awesome?! Nearly as cool as husbands. Can't wait 'til you get yourself one of those. Then you'll see what I'm talking about.

Husbands are great, and everyone should have one. . . including husbands. laugh.gif

Danann....one of the great things about our "family" here at CelticRadio is that everyone is welcome to drop into any forum anytime and chat. We may live in many different places but here we are nearby. We care for each other and are here with support and friendship.

I have been enjoying reading about your wedding and honeymoon plans. This is an exciting time for you and you have the right to enjoy it. We will pray that the test results are good and your mind will be relieved. Be sure you let us know what you find out.

By the way, your fiance sounds like a sweetheart. smile.gif

Danann, just saw this. Dear girl, our thoughts, prayers and support are with you always. Whatever the outcome of your test, I'm sure that you will meet the challenges in your life head on. Perhaps you will need to make some lifestyle changes, perhaps you will have to take medicine. But these are nothing compared to the full, rich life you are preparing to have with your fiance. Remember that the love of your friends, family and significant other are merely the reflection of the Love He has for all His children. If we allow ourselves to be girded by that Love, then our problems pale and become less. Let us know how you do.

Some great news! I'm not diabetic! Turns out that my insulin is doing its job, my body is just producing a lot of it. The doctor wants to check it again in 6 months, and keep an eye on it as a precaution so that if a trend emerges, we're ahead instead of catching up. So for now it looks like I'll try to keep the Atkins/Sugarbusters/South beach low carb lifestyles popular.

The ankle thing is still unsettled. I go in on Thursday to see an orthopedic specialist about it. He's worried that its either a stress fracture, or ligimental damage which would explain why there's still pain and bruising after 6 weeks. They might have to put me in a boot for 6 weeks or so... wouldn't that make just lovely wedding shoes... Kidding, I should be out of it by then if I do have to have one.

Thank you so much for all the prayers and hugs. They really did help with the stress. Now I just have the wedding to fret over! (And all us gals know, its a fun type of fret).

Praise God, that's all I can really think right now.

Danann,

What wonderful news about the diabetics. Always better to be ahead of the game! smile.gif Just take care of that ankle now so you can dance at your wedding! wink.gif

Have you heard of Curves? I picked up a Curves magazine while waiting for hubby at the dentist office last week and it seems to have a workable plan on both carb and/or calorie counting. It works along side with an exercise plan. My two girls and I are talking about checking it out. They have clubs in a couple of nearby towns. I like the idea of six small meals a day. biggrin.gif

Concentrate on planning your wedding and enjoy every minute of it. Don't forget to keep us informed! smile.gif

I am upset with myself for not spending more time on the boards. How could I have missed this?

I am happy that it wasnt anything bad , though.
