YOU MIGHT BE A PASTOR IF...

~ You've waded in a creek wearing a necktie.
~ You've ever dreamed you were preaching only to
waken and discover that you were.

~ You'd rather negotiate with terrorists than the church organist.
~ You see a picnic as no picnic.
~ You've ever wanted to fire the church and form a
congregation search committee.

~ You've been tempted to take up an offering at a family reunion.
~ You've ever wanted to give the sound man some feedback of your own.
~ You've ever wanted to lay hands on a deacon, and you didn't mean
praying for him.

~ You often feel like you are herding cats instead of shepherding
sheep.
~ Your sermons have a happy ending...everyone's happy when it ends.
~ You've never preached on TV, because your wife made you get down
before you broke something.

~ You feel that it is your job to comfort the afflicted and afflict
the comfortable.

I actually work as a church secretary now, I've had the job about 1 1/2 yrs. and its interesting to see the behind-the-scenes workings of a church. My boss, the pastor of a small Baptist church, has a great sense of humor and is enjoyable to work with - but he also has a huge heart for his congregation and is a truly compassionate pastor to them all.

He would laugh at this post!

Hey Susan, let's be honest! Church secretaries are the real power behind the scenes tongue.gif !

Having been in the ministry (Baptist myself) for over 25 years, I could relate with most of the things mentioned on the post! I hope your pastor gets to see them and gets a good laugh. Say hello to him for me. We work as missionaries on the Navajo Nation in Arizona.

Have a great day! Glad you liked the post!

Mark,

I shared your post "You might be a pastor if..." with my pastor. He loved them.
My husband, kids and I belong to a Presbyterian church which is part of the PCA. We work with the youth at our church and chaperone on different Mission trips every other year. Several years ago we went to the Cherokee reservation in NOrth CArolina where we did a VBS for the kids, painted some houses, did some yard work, and my husband went everyday to a retirement home and sang for them. Do y'all ever have people from other churches come and do any sort of short term mission work where you are? Let me know.
