It is official, work has resumed on what we are calling "The CMR Project"!!!

So the pandemic slowed us down and some initial false starts with designs that just could not seem to go anywhere. But we now have a solid technology choice for Celtic Radio's modern day website called "Celtic Music Radio" and we think you and others are going to love it.

Celtic Music Radio will be located at our domain: https://www.celticmusicradio.com

While times have changed, our inspiration has not. The CMR project has been in the planning for years and is our endeavor to bring a modern website to our loyal and faithful listeners. You can expect the CMR experience to get you hooked up to the music quickly and easily through modern media players along with occasional news worthy articles to pique your interest in all things Celtic. Whether that is the music, the history or the mythology of the Celts; we plan on making it engaging and interesting to keep the Celtic flame roaring for years to come.

While we do not have any plans to close our legacy Celtic Radio website, our hope is to grow Celtic Music Radio over the coming years. The plan is for a soft footprint, focused exclusively on Celtic music augmented by a visually pleasing website that works in all modern-day browsers and devices.

We will have more news and screenshots of the new website coming soon, but a big thanks to all of our supporters that keeps the Celtic Flame going! Thank you!

I'm glad to see it moving forward again, but inquiring minds want to know...what happens to all of the forums and other things available here? Will they go away? Will you link back and keep them active? You called it legacy so will it be archive only? I know. Lots of questions wink.gif

That is a great question! We have no plans to take down Celtic Radio. In fact, we are in the initial plans to replace all of our servers sometime next year and that includes the CR legacy server. We did it once before and should be able to do it again.

Unfortunately, we have had many issues that we had to overcome to get the site to still function at all and to be stable. Rather not mention some of the techniques we employed, but it just seems to work well.

As well as the CR site being so extensive with alot of other interesting things such as family histories and requests just to name a few, so there are no plans to take the CR site down or limit functionalty. It will stand by itself. However, I don't think we will invest any programming resources in the site that will move over to CMR unless of course something breaks and needs fixing.

CMR will be completely https on our new secure server and that server gets upgraded constantly.

All CR premium members will have access to CMR.

CMR will be limited in scope to connecting to the music and function on multiple devices. It will be easy to use and we may or may not have a message forum over there, it certainly would not be as extensive as this one and I don't think we would convert this forum into the new website. I think the Goal is to get it up and running and then over the years if we want to build out or replica some of the features we have on CR we could do that. i.e. like requests, favorite song lists, etc. We will make use of some of the API's that are included in our media servers now so we will just see how it will turn out!
