Thank you, Aragorn! Love the name - the movies were great, weren't they?

These are good forums and I thank the moderators here for lettling me post this message about my forums. Be part of both! smile.gif

Would you like history here or just links?

Hello to all!

We are going into our 9th year of running messageboard and mailing lists about Scottish history and culture and would like to take this opportunity to invite anyone who is interested in Scottish, Celtic and medieval history and culture (serious discussion ranging from beginner to advanced) to join us - for free - at our fully interactive forums.

I'm a medieval historian and writer, and we have other talented writers and contributers on these forums. We welcome all who are interested in learning more about Scotland, Ireland, Wales, ancient Celts and even England (!) with some Viking medieval history thrown in for balance. We are looking for members who won't just lurk but who will participate. Ask questions; get involved in history and culture discussions or just use the general forums for great and friendly chat. We are a nice group, never allowing flaming or irritating people. Almost like a friends and family atmosphere, not an academic one.

So, if you are a history buff, or just enjoy reading and talking about Scotland, Celtic history and related topics, please accept this invitation to join us. To do this, just use the link below, register at the board (using the link at the top right), log in and join us in all the history and culture of our great heritage.

Hope to read you there. smile.gif

I'm proud to be of the clan Gunn.  I was born a Robison.

Hello friend,

Robison is a name found in two areas in Scotland. If your ancestors were from the Highlands (especially the Caithness area) then Clan Gunn is your best bet. Robison (som of Rob) is also found in the Border areas as one of the famous/infanous reiving clans of the Borders.

My best to all,

Hello to everyone here. Looks like a grand site. My name is Robert Gunn, and I'm an editor/historian for ScotWeb history and my own personal history pages as well. I generally shy away from public forums after some bad experiences elsewhere, but a friend of mine is here and I've heard very good things about the people here.

Please feel free to visit my pages, take them as you will, enjoy or ignore, but I hope you'll find them, at the very least, interesting and informative.

Skye's Scottish & Celtic medieval history site:
http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/skyelander
and
http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/Scothist

and of course, Scotweb history @
http://www.scottish-history.com

I hope to be able to chat with people here and if requested will gladly share some historical posts in the appropriate sections.

My best to all,

Barrdas, you are from Cincinnati? I don't love too far from there, in Hamilton. Where do you play?

Hello all;

I'm doing an article on her for ScotWeb and my history web site. I'm just finishing work on a project about the Vikings, so this will be a welcome change of pace. Hopefully, I'll have the first drafts by Feb/Mar 2005. I'll post it if there is an interest, or simply post the link when ready.

I've been a member here since 2003, but have never posted before now. Just too busy with other projects! I hope I have more time to read you all soon.

Pax aye,

Wilson, my last name, is a sept of both clan Gunn and clan Innes. Does anyone know how to find out which clan I'm affiliated with? Do I need to delve deeply into my family history? Can I just choose one? smile.gif

Hi Brian,

Wilson is a common name in Scotand, almost as common as Brown. If you're a Scot, then it is usually associated with the clans you mentioned, Gunn or Innes. To read more about clan Gunn, try this:

Good luck in your search. biggrin.gif
