Celtic Radio Community > Kirk and Chapel > Tough Funeral

I preached a funeral yesterday for a young man who hung himself. It was one of the more difficult services I have ever had to preside over.

Of course, out of respect for his parents, I will not mention a name, but please keep this family in prayer. there were a lot of factors involved and I encouraged folks not to get involved in finger pointing or accessing blame. A choice was made and the folks left behind have to deal with it.

There were about six or seven folks at the service who made a decision to put their faith and trust in the finished work of Christ for their salvation, so I rejoice that God can make "beauty from ashes." Still, the suicide rate here on the Reservation is well above the national average.

Appreciate your prayers and thanks for reading. Lord bless!

The choice to end one's life is indeed sad at any age, but for a young person to make that choice is tragic!

I send up smoke (prayers) for him and his family.
