I think it would be interesting to have random things happen on each turn. Have a chance for good and bad:

1. a weather tragedy causing you to lose buildings
2. bandits kidnap workers
3. A famous artist moves into your kingdom bringing an influx of gold
4. Sickness kilss some people in your army

These are just some ideas, but having them and some others might add some more chance of fun.

This is a great idea and I believe we spoke about a "Real Life Simulator" at some point in our suggestion box.

Just a good point to make, the date on this suggestion is from December, but we will eventually go through all of the suggestions and if they are good and add to the game we will see about implementing the suggestion.

Yea, I like this suggestion; although it shouldn't regularly occur at too rapid an interval.

Looking at the previous idea here I think I have another "random occurence" that would add an interesting twist to the game.

When your sending an army(s) to attack someone, there should be a random chance that "something" would slow them down or stop them altogether, (thus making it harder to accurately predict arrival times by both sides).
In reality, when a two or three month long march took place things like the weather and other natural obstacles would regularly cause setbacks. Several battles throughout history have been won by one side having that slight advantage, (the weather turning in their favor, etc.). I think it would be quite natural to have some kind of mechanic like this in the game.
