3ravens & Aaediwen, I'd be more than happy to shrink the size of my pics. Or at least the filesize. I've got webspace somehwere on the net, but I just can't remember how to setup my ftp access. It's been months.

3ravens, I'm so glad you asked about my camera. It's a mid 70's Minolta XG-1 SLR, with a 1:28 and 1:50 fixed lens. I got it on ebay for under $100 Canadian about four months ago. http://www.diversedesigns.us/yabbse/attachments/XGG150_small_file.JPG biggrin.gif

If you're looking for something that's quick and easy to get high resolution, clean shots, a digicam with upwards of 3 megapixels would work perfect. If you're looking for something just as easy to use, but has the capacity for higher quality, and perhaps proffessional, later on, they make them all the way up to 11Mp now.

If you'd rather be in complete control though, I'd go with an SLR. Digital cams have their downfalls. Artificial light, with many reflective surfaces seem to confuse them, and you can end up with lots of blurry pix. A good example would be in indoor auto show. I took over 200 pictures with a Nikon coolpix 995 (a $1300 camera when it was new) and maybe 75 of those came out decent enough to use. Another big problem is light reflects with a pinkish/purpulish ring around the whitewash. This won't happen with 35mm, and that's why I use this trusty old contraption.

It's all a matter of prefference. For what you explained, I'd go with a 3-5Mp Digital. It's instant, and very user friendly. Canon or Nikon is what I advise.

They also make Digital SLR's, if someday you decide you want to have the manual focus ability of an SLR, and still like the digital photos.

Hope this helps. king.gif

Thank you so much. biggrin.gif

Something about that picture just screams digital camera. The way it decides for you how much light it's going to let through. I thought I'd take the liberty of bringing this photo back to life.

What kind of photography does your Dad do? Mostly nature still life?

There is some wonderful artwork here =)

My sister and I have been working on something together, I was paging through some pictures of her cats and found one that started a stream for me. When I finished the poem, I sent it to her and she decided on the idea of putting the poem together with the image which inspired it. The image, and the graphics manipulation are her work, the poem is mine. Since she owns partial copyright to the following, I called her prior to posting this, she's agreeable So, here it is smile.gif

OldRaven -- I forgot to mention that the pic of Jasper Park Lodge is awesome! So very beautiful photography, such a beautiful place. Is that in Canada? Whereever it is, I am moving there! biggrin.gif

Jasper is in the Canadian Rockies in Alberta (about 3 hours north of Banff). The drive from Banff to Jasper is generally classed as one of the most breath taking drives in the world. http://www.discoverjasper.com
