So I began helping my girlfriend work on her family tree, because she had a lot of information and was having trouble organizing it...

As I went through some of the names were starting to sound familiar. So I compared notes with my family information, which is getting to be pretty huge in and of itself. Wouldn't ya know it, we found ancestors in common. We're friends AND cousins!

So I start filling out her tree with my information and vice versa.

And found out the neighbors are relatives.

I brought the information to my (Native) clan mother, because now the names were starting to sound familiar to *her*. Yep, related.

I posted to my Native American group about this because it was so funny to find that we really were related...and was asked to post the link to my tree.

Found four more relatives.

I'm tellin' ya, it doesn't take much to make a family tree a family forest sometimes! And now I'm about to get lost in it.

LOL, Sekhmet, you are so right how atree can become a forest. My family has a full recording of members dating back to 1690 and my lord, there are thousands and thousands of names, heading in all kinds of directions and localities. We have cousins in South Africa and even cousins in China with full Asian based names.
My cousin who has educated me the most and has documented so much of the family is absolute awesome. She follows up on all documents and researches and documents everything so there is no question to validity. I am in awe of her organizational skills, genealogy is truly a wonderful thing that only brings family and friends closer.
best to you,
