Thatnk God Kristie is on the mend. My daughter was in a rollover when she was 15, 1 month from 16, and the head trauma is hard to deal with. I'm sure Kristie will do grand as there are so many who care. Hang in there woman and know that you are all in our prayers!

Well, brothers and sisters, I have a joy. I just got off the phone with my mom. Her biopsy came back normal. They did find an area of her stomach that was irritated, so they gave her something for it. Last night she slept through the night for the first time in weeks. I am so glad she's alright.
WooHoo Todd!!! That's got to be a load off your mind. Get some sleep yourself.

Compassion is the sometimes fatal capacity for feeling what it is like inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too. - Frederick Buechner
If society prospers at the expense of the intangibles, how can it be called progress?
Oh, so wonderful news, Todd! I'm so glad for you...take a deeeeep breath now and calm down a bit!
Elspeth, I can relate so much to those times you have to go through...and I also know the feeling that God seems to be so far away. He IS around and with you, no matter if we see or feel him or not. You will manage the difficult, confusing time....it took me years myself and still I'm not through it all. So just to let you know: I'm always with you and thinking of you much more than my posts and letters show... I'm sending you many, many hugs! Feel free to write me whenever you want to...

Elspeth, Hey sister you are in my prayers. May God grant you grace to make those hard decisions.

Hello my friends. I just got back from a trip to the doctor, and I'm afraid the news wasn't too good!
As a child I had asthma, but luckily I grew out of it. In addition, I used to be a heavy smoker. Smoked about 2 packs a day for around 15 years. I know, not too bright with a history of asthma, but I've never been accused of being the smartest guy around!
Around seven years ago, I started working in a plastics-manufacturing factory. A lot of the chemicals we work in are pretty toxic, so we have to wear respirators. As a precaution, the company sends us every year for checkups and breathing tests, just to be sure that wearing a respirator isn't too hard on us!
Ive been with the company for almost 7 years now, and my checkups have never been the greatest. They keep telling me that I have some moderate blockage that interferes with my breathing but not bad enough to make me stop wearing a respirator. About 4 years ago, at one of these checkups, I was told that I have the lungs of a 94 year old man! I was only 35 at the time! As you can probably guess this was the incentive I needed to quit!
Well about two weeks ago it was annual check up time again. the doc told me I had the lungs of a 102 year old man! I was hoping to see some improvement after four years without a puff, not to see it going the other way! Well, the doctor told me I needed to see my family doctor for additional testing.
I just got back and the news was pretty scary. She told me that she thinks I'm in the early stages of emphysema. Luckily, though, she said that since I have quit smoking, that chances are it won't get much worse than it is now. I had to go today for some chest x-rays and have to go in a couple of weeks for some more breathing tests to be sure.
I'm trying to hold on to my faith and remember that I have a Greater Physician than these, but the word emphysema frightens me almost as bad as cancer does. I've seen too many people struggling to get another breath from this thing, and it scares the daylights out of me. I would greatly appreciate your prayers in this matter!

Allen, Please do what Maggie said on the other thread. The sooner you start treating it, the better it will be. Don't let anyone tell you you don't need treatment because it's not bad enough. If you can, see a pulmonologist as soon as possible. Meanwhile, all good thoughts and positive vibes are heading your way! (Doesn't that sound positively 60"s?)

Wizard, I am sorry about your news and I understand the panic you are feeling right now. Know that we are here to support you and to pray for you whenever you need us . That's what friends are for.
There has been much good advice given to you on this site and in general. Please stop a minute, take a calming breath and reread them. Find out all your options.
You also said that since you quit smoking, it should not get worse. Thank the Lord for that.
Just a thought...my husband uses 3 different breathers each day due to lung problems. He still leads a full happy life. You can too!!! Be positive. Hold on to your faith. It won't let you down.
