| I was sitting here thinking...I wonder what people pay for a hair cut world wide. As some of you know I keep mine pretty short which means a cut about every four weeks. The charge is $17.00 with out the tip. The amount sure adds up over a year. So for those of you who have your hair cut..men and women what do you pay your hair care professional to cut your hair? | I pay 15.00 for a dry cut. I keep mine cut short and it grows really fast and is thick. The lady that cuts my hair also texturizes it for me. She says I have enough hair for 3 people. Maybe I could sell it! maggiemahone1 |

| I knew it.. I'm getting hosed, She does wash it but charges more if she blows it dry. Or adds any products. So I usually leave with a wet head in single digit weather. And scratch from the hair that is stuck in my shirt... Are mens haircuts about the same anyone know? Slainte |

| That’s funny Rindy, because the last time I got my hair cut, (by a Pro) it cost me $30 dollars, which worked out to be around 3 dollars a minute, (I know because I clocked it). Anyway, it’s been some three years now, and I’ve have to say. That nothing pleases me more, then tapping on my X Barbers window, and waving my long hair at him, (and you know he always gives me foul hand signal). |

| When I was on active duty, it was about $3 on base, add in a tip to make it a fiver. Hair cuts once a week made that $20 a month. After the service, $10 plus tip twice a month for $25. Now, I cut it myself. Figure $70-$100 for a decent pair of clippers. I've had my current pair for about a year and a half right now. Back to one haircut every 7-10 days. Average cost $2 per cut. |

| My sons barber charges 10 dollars I pay about 15 dollars Maggie the folks who cut my hair say I have enough for 3 people too. I reply back that I am thankful for every hair on my head. |

| I usually have colour done whenever I go but yesterday I asked my stylist what she charges for just a cut since one of my daughters wants hers done. Her price is $20. When I get colour, cut, and dry it's $52 and next month, watch out, if I decide to get my highlights, too, it's going to be $110. I may have to save up for two months in order to be able to afford that. No wonder I haven't had highlights done since November of 06! |

| LOL Johnny! "that made my day" Thanks for all the replies. Kind of get a good idea...My Sister was a hairdresser for years..I never had to pay for a cut..that was sure nice.... Any one have nightmare stories of hair cuts...colors...perms??? I had way to much hair thick and long and got it in my head I wanted it permed. | $10 bucks at cost cutters. Extra 3 or 4 if I want a shampoo. That usually get my hair thinned out too because its really thick. Most of the others around here are about the sameprice. Our lowest used to be "Two minute Tony" a former army barber. His haircuts went for $5 and it was a pretty decent job. |

| For me to spend more than $15 on a haircut would be pure folly. I keep it short enough that a few swipes with clippers for someone who has an idea how to use them gets me though it and on to their next customer quickly. I don't have enough hair to try to style it or anything like that, and if I let it grow to a point where that would be worth trying it would just curl up and be most disagreeable. My STBX wife pays $80-120 every 8-10 weeks and I never notice anything different. She acts like it's a radical change and says people comment to her at her office. I do not believe I have ever once received a comment about a haircut at my offfice, or heard a comment directed toward anyone else about theirs. What would you say? And how would you respond? Everybody has to get haircuts, so what's the point of yapping about it? My son is 8 and now wants shaggy hair like the teenagers. Whatever. Looks hot and bothersome to me, and his stays snaggly because he is in a chlorinated swimming pool 4 days a week. But it's his hair, I'm not worrying about it. He found a picture of me from 1978 when my classmates called me 'mop-head,' so what can I say? |

| First, understand that I am a cheap Scotsman. I have clippers (I inherited from my father, so didn't cost me anything) and buzz my head about once every two or three months. It stays short and doesn't bother me and costs nothing. Will admit that thirty-five years ago my hair was half way to my rear end. Now all I care about is comfort. Makes my wife mad, she says my hair is "beautiful", but when you look like the south end of a north bound mule, what difference does hair make? |

my husband inherited clippers, too. He has this gorgeous white-blond curly hair, but decided a few years back that it was too much trouble. Told me to clipper it off for him. I told him I'd never even touched a set of clippers before and was scared to death. He informed me that it is impossible to shave a man's head badly. I proved him wrong.  |

| Thank goodness, no, that was a one-time experience. besides learning that hairdressing is not my calling, we also learned that the hubs has a very unattractive somewhat lumpy head. He's darling with hair, though, and you'd never know. |

I could have proven him wrong, too. Way back when (1990) I was a groomsman in a friend's wedding. I decided to get a high and tight clip before the wedding. Well, for some reason, this long patch of hair remained above my left ear and i didn't notice it until I got home. Deciding to take matters into my own hands, I borrowed some clippers and a hand mirror, reckoning I had a steady hand and the ability to work with the reflection. Long story short, I stood in front of everyone in the church looking like someone had gone upside my head with a 9-iron. I also lerned that hair gel will not act as hair glue and stick fallen hair back onto your head. It still seems to me that should have worked.  |

| Those of you who have enough hair for 3 should pass me some. Although my hair has gotten thicker since I started taking thyroid pills, I can stil get it all in a 1/2" thick ponytail. It's fine too so barrettes, etc just slide out. Right now it is neck length with a bad perm and my natural brown and gray. I think at my next appt. which is next week I will go back to a boycut an then dye it red again. My hair goes from very long to short when I get sick of how damaged it is to very short when the mood for a radical change hits me. Oh and you guys with long hair should still get a trim every 6 weeks or so. I used to do mine myself--its easy for a long blunt or slightly tapered style. I agree--thank goodness hair grows back. |

| I can't remember what I used last time. I usually get a true red color, although I have used both light and dark auburn in the past. |

| Rindy, I just started using the new nice-n-easy light auburn. My natural brown hair has red highlights anyway and this one blends with my hair better than what I used to use. It covers the gray well also, which I really need. LOL |

| I completely shave my head in the shower with a Gillette Sensor 3 razor, about every 3 days! I'm tellin ya..razor blades are not cheap!! Although I only change it like every tenth time... |

| Dry winter air is why I usually chop my hair in the winter. Everybody thinks I'm crazy for doing so but in the hot weather I can put longer hair up. In the winter, the static electricity drives me nuts, so that's when I have it all cut off. I've using an anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner, but I don't think anything can save this permed, dry, split from ends to half-way up hair. I'm convinced that the only thing to do is go for the boy cut at my appt. Wednesday--think Ricky Cunningham, only feathered--that's the way I had it last time I went for the very, very short look. |

| sounds darling. i've never been brave enough to cut mine really short. it tend to cycle...grow it out really long, chop it off and donate it, then grow it back out again. i keep saying that one of these times i won't grow it out again, but i'm just too lazy for short hair. |

| Hair cuts! The other day I found a hair about two inches long. The only trouble is it was growing out of the top of my ear. So naturally I cut it off, and it didn’t cost me a red cent! |

I've done that twice. (cut my long hair off and donated it) I hated doing it, so the donation was about the only thing that made it alright. I'm off to get my hair cut after work, but I've only got a couple of inches to spare. |

| I sent mine to Locks of Love. they require ten inches for hairpieces, but will take slightly less. they sell the shorter stuff to cover their costs. they make their pieces for children with cancer, so i really didn't mind cutting mine too badly. also, i have enough hair for three people and cut it during a particularly warm August, so I was glad to see it go. |

| Well, today's the day. Do I go for the boycut or just get it cut? Whatever I do I need to cut about 6 inches off just to get rid of the splits. That would leave only 3-4 inches of hair, so I guess I might as well go all the way. I have only had this hair stylist do a pretty blunt cut before, so I hope she will do a good job with the chop. Wish me luck!! I donated my hair the last time I went from long to shortish. Would have done it all the times before if I had known I could. |

| I went for the boy cut. I plan to do the color this weekend. I chickened out on the true red and bought light auburn. I'll see if I can get a picture posted after I get the color done. |

| I finally colored my hair yesterday but it's not very noticable except in the sunlight. Under the floresent lights at work the only noticable effect is to hide the gray better. Next time I will go for the true red. I will post a picture as soon as I can get one taken. I don't have a digital camera or the bandwidth to upload a picture at home, so I'll have to wait until I visit Da. |

| I've been very pleased with my colour for the past six months or so. I've been going a bit lighter brown than my original (dark, dark, dark brown!) because it just doesn't look natural anymore. I'll leave that to a couple of my kids who still have those dark Italian features. I went a bit reddish last year because I was supposed to go to Dragon*Con as President Roslyn from Battlestar Galactica (fortunately, a more mature character on tv - she's close to my own age - has long reddish/brown hair). But I am not really happy with that much red in my hair. It just doesn't look "right" on me. So, we're back to adding blonde to my brown and, interestingly, because my stylist uses a good product that doesn't give you that solid all-over one-colour look, the blonde just adds a lot of highlights to my hair. It picks up differently on the (cough, cough) white than it does on the natural brown. One of these months, I'm supposed to actually have highlights done but that's too expensive. On the length side of things, I've been growing my hair out since a couple of years ago when it was quite short. Getting it trimmed monthly does keep it healthier but it seems to take much more patience on my end. But it's definitely shoulder length and a bit more. I can put it up (like today), keep it down fairly straight (with a bit of coaxing from the blow-dryer) or even use the electric curlers and have lots of bouncy waves. I like it this length - the only thing I might change is to go a little lighter in the colour department. (gee, you think I ought to actually do some work today instead of hanging out here?...naw!) |

| A few years ago I had a job that didn't mind me growing my hair and I had never had my hair very long so I decided to see what I looked like. I let it grow for about 5 years and then shaved my head. I went from one extreme to the other over night. I donated my hair when I shaved it. It was about 23 inches long. | So far, two of my daughters have donated hair to Locks of Love, as well as my hair stylist and her twin sister. My hair's not long enough and I don't plan on going short for a long time but, when I do, I'll donate mine, too. It's a great idea. |

Okay, rindy, I'm here - and I'm hangin' So, yesterday, I blew my hair dry and it turned out lovely. Then I looked outside and it was raining. Why did I go to so much effort to fix my hair when I knew it was just going to get frizzy in the weather? grr... So, I pulled it back and left it like that all day at work. When I got home, I undid the clippie and my hair looked fantastic! I couldn't believe it. If I had wanted it to turn out that way, there's no way I could have done it. No frizzies - just the right amount of wave - crazy. The way I look at it, I think I'll go for about 6 more inches and that will be the length we'll keep it for a while. That would put it just past the middle of my back. It's finally at the length where I can reach around and grab it without looking up to make it hang down longer. My stylist has layered it just a tad, too. So, I'm thinking there's really no rule anymore that says you're too old for bangs. Mary McDonnell is older than I am and she often wears her hair with long bangs. (That's also pretty much the hairstyle I have - she's the actress from Battlestar Galactica I was referring to earlier.) |

| Actually, my hair looks better the day after I go to the stylist. I need to sleep on it then it looks more relaxed. Right after it's done, it looks too "styled" if that makes sense. Now that my bangs are long enough to part my hair on the side, I'm thinking about getting them cut again. I guess I'm just never satisfied! |

| My hair always looks better in the morning too for some reason. I tried it with no bangs, it it just wasnt right. My daughter has REALLY short bangs, it drives me crazy. |

In my squandered days of misspent youth, I didn't. I had a ponytail halfway down to my arse. As a firefighter, I didn't pay anyone. A 2" comb on an electric clipper passed close over my head every Monday. Now my wife prefers that I maximize what little hair I have left, but I still prefer it off my ears and above my collar, and I still do it myself (lots of practice grooming two recalcitrant Cocker Spaniels).  |

| My husband says he hair is slowly moving off his head and down his back til eventually he''' have a hairy ass. As for the price of a haircut, the actual cut is like 15-20.00, but all the other stuff, blw drying and all that takes it up to about 30.00-35.00 it seems. |

| I get a number 2 across the beard and half way up my head and then a number 3 across the top. 15 bucks plus tip. I bought a clipper set and this time I'm gonna do it myself. Every once in awhile I let the beard grow for 6 months to a year. People say i looked like Castro and one customer thought I was Jewish for many years because of the beard. One time I shaved my moustache off and left the beard, flew into St. Louis and was looked at very curiously by a group of Amish on a flight. I kind of looked like the men but with different dress and I would catch them looking at me and they would politely nod at me. |

Funny stuff Ulster, you know, I often get asked if I’m George Carlin, but usually after I’ve opened my mouth. And once, I was introduced as a Charles Manson, when I tried my hand at “stand-up comedy”, at some little club downtown. You know it was great, because it gave me the opportunity to adlib right off the bat, by saying. First off let me remind the maître, that I know where he lives, (which got a big laugh). LOL In me youth I had long hair and my mother would always tell me I looked like Charles Manson and to please cut my hair!! When I did cut it off in '77 I had her do it and she cried the entire time!!!!! Now adays I like to wear my Marilyn Manson teeshirt and freak out the kids, my wife is always hiding it on me!! |

| I usually pay about $14 for a cut. There was one time for a special occasion I decided to splurge and pay $30 at a better salon. It was the best haircut I've ever had. So is anyone else cursed with naturally curly hair? I know, I know, I should consider myself blessed to have curl in my hair naturally,  but I have the hardest time finding stylists who really know what to do with curly hair. At least when you get a perm all the curls are the same size and curliness, not a really curly top layer and an almost straight layer on the bottom. |

Once I had a trade show in NYC , last minute notice and I rushed down there and spent the nite. Next morn got up and went to the hotel barber for a haircut . It was the longest and best haircut I ever had. he snipped and snipped and razored and razored for about an hour, I was the handsomest I have ever been  . I was done, thanked him and went to pay. I almost fell down , $140.00 for the haircut!!!! I felt cheap giving him a 20 dollar bill for a tip. Never again, but still the best haircut ever.. |

| I once went for a haircut and told them just to take two inches off the length and layer the rest, I wear spectacles so I took my glasses off and she just cut awya, when she was done my hair was cut to right under my ears, and it started out below my shoulders, I was devestated, it started out below my shouders, I was hysterical for days. I don't even like to think about. |

| Well, I'll be on my way in about an hour to go drop my $50 and get my hair done. I'm thinking I may go back to bangs even though mine have just finally grown out so I can tuck them behind my ear. I can't pull my hair back and be really happy with the look if I don't have some sort of bangs - it's too much the ballet dancer look and I don't look good in it. And with warmer weather coming up, I definitely need to be able to put my hair up or ponytail it in some way. Looking forward to touching up these roots - funny how they just insist on showing up about every month. |

| Well, I decided to go back to bangs but actually it's a bit of a compromise. There's just a wisp of bangs and they are very long so I can brush them to the side a bit if I like. There's enough there to offset the bare look if I want to pull my hair back. I'm happy with the result. And, since we're putting a blonde colour with my brown, the highlights are blondish where it sticks to the (cough, cough) white. Even my bangs have a bit of blonde in them now. I'm liking it. |

| My airedale gets more haircuts than me, and his cost more, he doesnt do the hi-lites though i had a bad hair experience once with baby oil, my cousin told me to put babyoil in it, that it made it nice and soft, well, she didnt tell me how much to put in, twas a bit too much I guess, I went around for atleast a month with greasey looking hair, No matter how much I washed it, it wouldnt come out. Its was horrible. |

| I just did my beard with a number 2 trim comb and am trying to get my wife to cut my hair here at home. I think she is afraid she'll mess it up, but I just get a number 2 buzz on the sides and a 3 on top. How hard can it be and we would save $15 for the cut and $5 on the tip. |

| The last I had my hair cut was about 2 months ago and did the job myself. Because I was fed up with them so long and in the way. I was sick in bed and couldn't lift my arm to plaid them so they were in the way all the time. So I took care of it bend my head dowwn and cut about 7 to 8 inches out. They're growing back slowly. |

| My hair has a tendency to go red when I colour it so that's why I let the professional do it. Now that I got my tax stimulus money (which is heading for the dentist since I still owe on a crown) I may hold out enough to get my highlights done. I can say that I am enjoying my hair in its curly state. It is sooooo much easier to take care of in the mornings. I don't use gel on it, though, because I don't like the stiff feeling I get. I switched to a product called Flat-Out which keeps the frizz down but still lets it curl. Now, if we can just control that sneaky reddishness that keeps trying to appear, things will be great! |

| I just found out my favorite shampoo and hair glaze(not gelee) have been discontinued. I have used Biolage Energizing shampoo and the Glaze for styling it for years. I loved the glaze as it didn't make your hair stiff. Now I can't get it. Well I looked on ebay-and folks are making a killing. I refuse to bid on a hair glaze. lol I will try everything under the sun til I find one. If anyone has any ideas about a similar product to the glaze I am all ears. He worked on it very carefully, and it really did look wonderful and "custom-colored"; but I was so afraid to ruin it! | Rindy I know how you feel about your hairdresser because mine moved away too and I really worried about letting someone else work on my hair. But I must say the hair profession has come a long way. There are alot of professionals that take their job seriously. My daughter suggested her friend that she went to school with that went on to become a hairdresser. She is excellent. Yes, I feel obligated to her now also. We have quite a selection in the town that I live but I feel the more a person works with your hair the better they are able to help it. I like the Biolage line and it seems they discontinue items quite frequently. Have you ever tried the Ojon line of products? They have a website or you can check out QVC. | I finally did it! I celebrated St. Pat's day by coloring my hair bright red. As some of you know, I have been meaning to for over a year. I meant to--even bought the coloring, but just never got to it. I'll post a picture after I get a trim in a couple of weeks. It needs trim now after only 3 weeks--can't believe its growing so fast--must be the spring weather--but we're going to Alaska next week and I can't get down to my hair stylist before we leave. |

It does take a lot of the weight of it and plan on still doing that now. I can't start it at the top but start about in the middle of my head. My grandson was here with me two week-ends ago and couldn't believe I could braid that fast by myself,told him I did long time ago this way. (see the paragraph below) I went in to the same hairdresser, she cut my hair $25.00 got home and hated my hair for 3 days. I then decided to cut it myself. I got it short alright. I pretty much know how it should feel, longer on one side than the other etc. After I was done I thought ok, this feels better. I have got more complements on my hair than I have in years. Either it looks really bad (which is probably the case) or it looks half way decent. I don't know but I do know it really made me angry. May be the stylist was having a bad day. May be it was something I said. lol.. I guess I will go back to the same one but this time I will say-cut this if it looks or feels too long. I have always cut his hair with scissors. Let's just say he won't have to get a haircut anytime soon and I don't think I will have to worry about him asking me to cut his hair. Oooppps. Flora |

| Thats one way to get out of cutting his hair. Just had mine trimmed yesterday. It's not good for alot of people to be in the salon as there was a big gab fest going on. Too much talking is not good when the stylist has scissors in her hand. LOL Hair is a little shorter than I wanted. Thank goodness it will grow out. Val |

| I always get a military crew cut when I go and get a haircut. The lady usually charges $15 to all her customers for basic cuts, but she only charges me $10 because of all that I've been through and still dealing with, plus I guess the fact she only has to use electric trimmers to cut my hair and get the 'crew cut' look. I go quite often too, as my hair grows fast and it only takes two weeks for the crew cut to really start disappearing after I have it cut. I'll probably go and get it cut next week. |

| lol everyone! This question isn't about a cut but I was wondering if anyone has used temporary highlights sprays that temporarily color your hair? I tried a Jerome Russell brand, I need a lot of practice. lol. I had to laugh one of the cautions it says, "do not spray into eyes" I almost aimed right for them. haha Has anyone got any tips on how to use this stuff? Slainte |

Hanging in my eyes.lol..I feel like taking the scissors but will try and hold off. The lady that cuts my hair gets upset when I start cutting it on my own. Can't imagine why I have a apointment on Monday. Thankgoodness Anyone seen that shaver out for men that is curved and says you can't make a mistake? I bet I could. I hear it works pretty good. Still looking for a certain styling product. I saw there was one on ebay it went for 3x as much as I paid for it back when I bought it. The company quit making it and people are evidently still wanting it. What a racket, wish I would of known I would of stocked up. | I found a great shampoo by the Sexy Hair Concepts Company. It is Pumpkin Rehydrating Shampoo. It has been out for a couple of years but this is the first I have run into it. It has a wonderful "pumpkin pie" fragrance but it leaves hair hydrated and soft. Gets me in the mood for "FALL". Flora |

| At least you get it done bi-annually. I had an English teacher in college who only had his cut once a year. We always knew when spring break was. I'm due to get mine cut again. Its bloody thick Italian hair that that I can't get as long as I would like it to be and it tends to go it own way if I don't keep an eye on it. Did you ever wonder why there are so many woman's hairstyle magazines but nothing for men? Sometimes we could use a few new ideas too. What was the last new hairstyle for men-the mullet? Just something I was thinkng about today while I ws looking iover the magazines. |

I put my next cut off two more weeks as she scalped me a month ago. I get so frustrated how hard can it be to cut the same persons hair the same that you've done for over a year??? | I just had to say I got the nerve up to change my hairdresser. The only thing is the charge is $25.00 but it was well worth it. Funny how a hair cut can make or break your day. A good cut can sure make you feel better about yourself. Now I will really be happy if the next cut turns out as good. Slainte |

Really like this new hairdresser. I don't like paying that much but I have needed someone that knows how to cut hair. Takes some time to fix it the way it's suppose to but it's so nice to hear someone say wow I like your haircut! Who cuts it? Such a small town they just shake their head and say she does a great job. | I've been growing my hair out for the last few years, so I do not get it cut more than once a year (unless there is need for some tlc, such as after an 80's revival party or haunted house). Once lady charges about $40 to wash, cut, and dry. Another lady charges $20 to wet and cut. I haven't the heart to color or perm it, so that saves me some money. Most days I just let it do whatever it feels and tie a scarf around my head |
