You can also try the highland dancing supply stores. I got a great deal on my kilt almost 4 years ago.. $22/yard -4 yards-double width. it was on special due to xmas holidays. they had a surplus in my tartan (cunningham-royal). then I had a lady (dance mum) make it for me. I think that total cost was under $200. my best friend is getting married this year and purchased a kilt, long plaid, and a few other accessories which came to over $500 plus he had to pay $91 in customs tax. i purchased my material through tartan town -they're on the web somewhere *.com i think- normally their prices are around $45/yard. i know any sort of jacket like the prince charlie is quite expensive no matter where you look. i'm just glad i'm not a male dancer. good luck...and if you know what he's "looking" for, let us know. we'll go on a manhunt for the best price!
ps- i've seen those tactics before.. don't let them sway you.. get it for him anyways.. xmas maybe? *teehee*
