Pick wanted to pull away first, but found to his own surprise he liked being hugged like this. He grinned shyly at Ruby and said: "Hmmm, else ye land with me at the fish's good grace, and I don't think I want that." He walked away arm in arm with her but he couldn't refrain from whispering into her ear: "But I honestly don't need a nursemaid ..." and looked at her with eyes sparkling like a pair of diamonds.

What a bunch. Jes stepped back and watched the rukus, as every man on board crowded around the newcomer. Every man but the captain, that was. He was noticibly red faced, with a vein pulsing in his forehead that threatened to blow at any moment. The crew was wise to not say anything to the man, as they would most likely see just that.
Jesdone walked to the other side of the ship, leaned against the rail, and slumped down on a roll of rope. A grunt came from his right, that he found to belong to the damn dog. I know how you feel. You'd think being human would make someone more easily understood. Well, it takes a lot more than walking and talking to pull that off. There was no answer. Which was good enough. This was probably the one creature on board that Jesdone could talk to without revealing all.
I supose I'd lose a finger if I gave you a pat on the head.

As the newcomer walked past, Gili stood, leaving his dishes laying, and said, "My name is Gilidorfus Astronitus, and I'd just like to say welcome aboard, mi'lady. Sorry I look so bad, but I'm afraid I'm not used to being on a ship."

Slàn agus beannachd, Allen R. Alderman
'S i Alba tìr mo chridhe. 'S i Gàidhlig cànan m' anama. Scotland is the land of my heart. Gaelic is the language of my soul.
I'll take that as a no. Jes slowly stretched his hand over to the dog and patted him on the head, followed by a quick scratch behind the ear. He chuckled at the goofy grin only a content dog would have. You're not so bad after all. So, what do you think of this new addition?
"Well hun if it makes you feel any better i'm not hear to be your nurse maid. I just wanted to get away from Alwan"
As they walked to the galley the pass Gili. Gili stood, leaving his dishes laying, and said, "My name is Gilidorfus Astronitus, and I'd just like to say welcome aboard, mi'lady. Sorry I look so bad, but I'm afraid I'm not used to being on a ship."
"Oh thats ok hun. As a matter of fact I might have some thing that will help with our little ship problem."
I reach into my satchel and pull out a root and a lemon, set them on a plate and grab a knife and fork that is laying near by. I crush the root with the fork untill i get as much juice out as I can. I them cut the lemon in quarters and dip 2 quarters into the root juice and hand them to Gili
"Here suck the juice out of both of these and it should settle your stomach."

"Here suck the juice out of both of these and it should settle your stomach."
Gili gladly takes the offered fruit. "Thank you, mi'lady! I don't believe I have ever experienced such misery before!" As he he takes the first taste, he puckers. "I look forward to seeing you around the ship!""
With that he sits back down and follows the lovely orders, sucking the juice out of the lemon slices.
"Captain, we should be about ready to turn our course, the sky looks about right!"
Slotglas took one last look at the compass, and nodded to Phartripper. Agreed. The Captain gave Bogrit the signal, and the Mate barked out the orders to the crew. In a moment, they were on a new heading, and the Ocean Swallow was closing in on its' destination.
We should be in those waters by full day. You should brief your men. I trust they were not given all the facts of this mission. Now would be the time to fill them in on many of the dangers they will need to be watchful of.
((Jesdone))
Jesdone's sharp ears picked up much of the conversation between the two leading men, which was no doubt not meant for his hearing.
It was becoming clearer by the moment that this was not some token ships captain. Every time the man opened his mouth, the words became more precise. This was no warf rat. This was a man born to an aristocrat. What was he doing at the helm of such a ship?
