Angus and Bronwyne II

Around the fire sat we all
closely upon ears the story did fall.
Ye heard of a love pure from the start
tender and caring of these blessed younghearts.
Children they were when they first met
across the ocean love could not forget.
Silver to silver the two always have worn
None could come between, their souls had sworn.
At first they love was madly denied
by a mother whose anger would never subside.
Elders of the clans would try as they may
the honor of peace would the red coats betray.
Many lives for the two would end violently in the night
many years would pass as Bron was kept from her loves sight.
Strong as an ox Angus was known
gentle as a lamb now his Bronwyne is home.
Flowers bloom where petals once did decay
Angus' heart now mended, by his side his lovely maid.
He knew his heart she would never forsake
to believe she would abandon was a mistake.
Happiness now flows free through the dales
years from now there'll be many more tales.
Strong as an ox Angus be known
gentle and caring now his Bronwyne is home.

Fionna and Padrig II

Rings of promise now tarnished and old
fields of daisies no longer silver and gold.
A legacy had barely begun
when deaths dominion claimed just one.
Around the tree that heaven had grown
beside the wall of metal and stone.
A path of delicate baby blue flowers
grows now to mark their precious last hours.
They call Fionna to where fate had taken hold
sprung upon her the truth, together they'll never grow old.
Her heart never denied the love that grew
too you were they to acknowledge what everyone knew.
Surely god would see with his eyes
a heart too pure for love to deny.
Years had passed, too many to recall
when headstrong Fionna would suddenly fall.
Through his blood would Padrig live
to claim the hand that was once to be his.
Through generations his heart did seek
to now have the privilege to lay a kiss upon her cheek.
Through the wall made of metal and stone
did the new loves disappear with the thundering storm.
Lightening destroyed the tree that grew
that marked the spot where Fionna knew.
That love was precious that her heart could break
God had sent her a knight he knew would never forsake.
With a silent blessing from Padrig beyond
did Fionna wed Patrick, now the two are finally one.

This is not associated with the story, just something I wrote down the other day.

To Be Such As I Am

To know not the sweet taste of your lips as the dawn breaks
To know not the gentleness of your touch as we succumb to the night
To be such as I am.

Forever wanting of some pleasure upon high
Forever needing such a simple thing as forgiveness
To hold most dear the ecstacy that clouds the unyielding brain
To be such as I am.

A wanton vessel yearning for more
Waiting for the world to vanish forever more
Beyond mere words your actions do play upon my mind,
the night turns silently to day
To be such as I am.

A prayer that passes by deaf ears as such
Screaming whispers that wish to know, just one touch
How do I presume, and when shall it all come to pass?
To be such as I am.

To know not the hushed whisper of your voice
To know not the sound of your fulfilled sigh
Of gentleness looking to give a stern eye
Be this I beg, or let loose my heart, let it fly
To be such as I am; too free.

Sweet kisses after death, are remembered
Sweet smiles after death, are recalled
Sweet voices after death, are silent
Sweet love after death, after all.

I have read poetry for as long as I can remember. As well as writing it. In school you read the usual, Shakespeare and what have you. But this one poem stood out. I read it and it has never left my mind. I have it memorized. The writer is unknown, and Ihave seen small differences in the poem depending on the book you look in. But the feelings are all the same.

The unquiet Grave

Cold blows the wind on my true love, and a few small drops of rain.
I never had but one true love, and in the greenwood he lies slain.
I'll do as much for my true love, as any lover may.
I'll sit and morn all at his grave, a twelve month and a day.
The twelve month and the day being gone, the ghost began to greet.
'your salten tears they trickle down, they wet my winding sheet.'

'Tis I my love sits on your grave, and will not let you sleep.
For I crave one kiss of your clay cold lips, and that is all I seek.'

"O'lily lily are my lips, my breath comes earthly strong.
If you have one kiss of my clay cold lips, your time will not be long.'

'Tis down in yonder garden green love, where we used to walk.
The finest flower that e're was seen, is withered to a stalk.'

'The stalk is withered dry my love, so will our hearts decay.
Make yourself content my love, till god calls you away.'

Oh I could keep this thread busy for I have lots of favorite poems. I know this one by heart.

The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day, but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.

Hello Theresa,
As this forums Mod I am going to ask you to keep your poems in one thread that is created by you. it saves space and makes it easier for people to find what you have posted.
Thanks for your cooperation
