Intern accused of sex with student

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- A 30-year-old teaching intern was arrested and accused of having sex with a 16-year-old male student after police found the two parked behind a school with the windows of the car steamed up.

The intern's toddler was strapped into a car seat in the back when police discovered the two Saturday.

Margaret De Barraicua and the student are believed to have been having "an ongoing consensual sexual relationship for several months," Sacramento police spokesman Sgt. Justin Risley said.

OK. It seems like this is happening once per week all of a sudden. Teachers all over the US are getting it on with their students.

Shamalama asks:

1. I was in high school 30 years ago. Was this stuff going on back then, and I was simply too naīve to notice?

2. Do you view this activity differently if the teacher is a female rather than a male?

1. I'd heard a few rumors when I was in high school in the late 80s-early 90s, but nothing specific.

2. Yes, it is wrong for teachers to engage in sexual congress with pupils, whether it be male, female, straight or otherwise.

Should we be surprised? After all, the amoral, if it feels good doctrine of the public school system has been taught long enough for the students to now be the teachers.

I graduated high school '72, I think there may have been some hanky panky going on between the football coach and a couple of the girls in their senior year. I never heard of anything going on between a female teacher and a male student. Who knows, it may have

I graduated in the sixties. Never heard a whisper of such a thing. Yes, it's wrong (unless of course you're a teen age boy, in which case it's your fantasy come true).

I never had any fantasies about my teachers. I went to a Catholic grade school, so a lot of my teachers were old nuns, and my female teachers in high school weren't very good looking.

Those teachers are getting younger and better looking every year though. I've only been out of school for 10 years, and already I feel old when I see some of my kids' teachers at Elementary school. I want to ask some of them if they've graduated high school yet!

When I was in middle school (late 80's) the band teacher got nailed for sleeping with one of the senior girls (who was 18), but as soon as she graduated, they got married. He still got fired though...he always was a little creepy.

In high school, it was pretty well known (in the student body of course) that the one chemistry teacher who was also the girls soccer coach, was getting it on with some of his soccer team. He finally got caught 4 years after I graduated. My mother was very surprised, and I had to tell her that I wasn't surprised in the least. It was a well known "fact" among the high school girls.

Here a nice one: Local teacher had affair with student and his father

Boca Raton resident Carol Flannigan, a music teacher at a Boynton Beach public school, not only slept with an 11-year-old former student, but also had a sexual relationship with the boy?s father at the same time, according to a deposition filed this week in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

The boy?s father says in the deposition that he had the same sort of sexual relationship with Flannigan, 50, that former President Bill Clinton had with Monica Lewinsky.

The father says in his deposition that he believed Flannigan started having sex with his son during sleepovers at their Boca Raton home in 2002.

Flannigan?s husband, Doug DePue, upset at the frequent sleepovers, sent the boy two e-mails that ended the sleepovers in late 2002.

Last summer, DePue settled a civil lawsuit with the boy?s family for $1.5 million. He divorced Flannigan in February 2003.

The boy?s father says DePue was often in the same room when Flannigan and the boy had sex, and says in the deposition that his son told him DePue knew what they were doing on at least one occasion.

Police first picked up on Flannigan?s behavior on Jan. 7, 2004 after the boy?s concerned mother found a sexually explicit text message on his cell phone.

Wow, it's unbeleivable what you hear on the news these days. I heard about the young pretty blonde teacher and the 15 year old. He husband has filed for a divorce.

Being a Mom of three, I couldn't even imagine something like that going on with one of my owen. Even my husband said that there is a double standard.

If a Male teacher were to "fool around" with a 15 year old student, he would be locked up, no second looks...But the female teacher, and male student, seems they are taking their time with that one.
