Military Xmas, To those who serve

My friends on the CR Forum I would ask that while you and your families celebrate this Holiday that you would take some time to remember all the Troops who serve in the Military of both our Countries and are standing in Harms Way. These young men and women are the latest in a long line of those who rallied to the call of their countries in time of need. I would also ask you to pray to whatever Deity you believe in to keep them safe and return them all home soon. To the families who tragically lost a member in the name of Peace I wish to say that there are insufficient words to express my sorrow and yes my humble appreciation of their sacrifice. May the Creator bless you one and all.

Dear David,

of course I remember all the troops which spend the holidays far away of their families in unsettled regions of the world. I was a soldier long enough to understand what it means to spend the Christmas days there.
Especially I'm thinking of the German and Austrian soldiers they're spending the Christmas days in Afghanistan and Chad. Yesterday I heard about two attacks to German soldiers in Kundus (Afghanistan). Fortunately nobody was taken out there...
I don't pray (because I don't believe in a diety) but I remember, hope and wish that they have the power, the fortune and the equipment to come home saved and well again. My thoughts are near them and their families especially during these days.

We always remember our military not just at Christmas. We keep them always in our thoughts and prayers. We have family that has fought in most every war back to William Wallace (Braveheart). I grew up in the military. My grandfather was at Pearl Harbour on Dec 7, 1941 and was served in the Pacific and also the Korean war. I often write to and send small care packages to our military. I have two brothers currently in the military. Josh is in the US Airforce currently stationed in Germany. Chris is in the army and due to ship out again to the Middle East on Dec 29th.

Well said by everyone. Our son came home December 23rd after his 4 year enlistment was up, that included 15 months in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne 325 Bct. The last three days he has been visiting,calling and going on line to thank everyone for their support and prayers. the day before he came home he signed up for the Massachusetts National Guard. Still wanting to serve his country. Support the troops.

I remember our troops often, not just at holidays. My grandfather was in the Navy, my mother was born in Washington DC while he was stationed there. My great uncle has many medals for his service during WWII. My nephew served time in Iraq and is coming up for his time to go back over there. My stepdaughter is going to Navy basic at Great Lakes in February.

I thank all those who have served and their families for the sacrifices made by all. Without those who serve, we would have no freedom. "Freedom is not free!"

Who is your daughter? Maybe while she is here I can help out somehow. Great Lakes is my home. I have grown up here since I was 6. My grandfather and grandmother are both buried at the Hospital Side Cemetery. If you send me a email or private mail I can send you my address to give to your daughter. If she ever gets lonesome or needs family closeby, I am here.
