Hi

Try this

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Highland+Games%22+and+%22Australia+%22&btnG=Google+Search

I tried specifying the city but only got 17 items that looked more like people who may have lived there once and also participated in games elsewhere but if you want to have a look here are the results for that search the above is for all of Australia.

Hope this helps you out some and good luck!

Hi Falachaidh,

Lucky you being in Florida for the holidays. As I sit here chivering in 20 degree weather with a good wind blowing from the Northeast. Well, I am not sitting outside, but close enough by a window!

That is great you are going to be traveling to Australia! Are you going to be competing there? It is wonderful that your dancing allows you to travel. Best of luck to you! I will see if I can find any information, but I think Scottish has beaten me to it. Besides, he has a wealth of information, more than my head can hold! :)

Best of Holidays to you!!!!

No problem and thanks allot it may not have been in teh 20's like with Paul but for SC it was dang cold like lower 40's all day yesterday and right now as of about 20 minutes ago weather channels website showed it to be 32 F but feeling like 28 F no wonder I have to get wrapped up in thermal clothing and heavy comfortor just to stay warm  :0

You've got to understand +40F IS warm here in Fairbanks,Alaska after a few weeks of -30's and -40's.  We're sweating and have all the heaters off and the windows open.   :p

Hello everyone! I'm here in sunny north-central Florida for the holidays and it is just beautiful!! I definately want to move here! I may even have an opportunity. But onto the real topic:

Next year, I will be visiting Australia for about a month or so. I have yet to set dates, but the trip is definate. I will be going from February to March, possibly April of 2002. I do realize this is going into Fall, but I just can't go any other time of year.

I am will be staying in Canberra travelling about. I know I will not be able to travel to the west coast, I may not even get to the north east coast! It all depends on time, but I do want to know where I can find some highland games to compete in.

If anyone can help me find information on this, I would be eternally greatful. I do have lots of sources, but I'd like to exhaust every avenue, as I may not ever get to travel like this again.

Thanks so much in advance :)
yours in dance,
Falachaidh

ahhh Florida was nice! Mid 60's with a gentle breeze blowing. Nice enough to not wear the shorts I really didn't have anyways!
The only major bummer about going to AUS is I will be travelling there during their fall and into winter. Alas, it's the only time I can go. So I won't swim with the sharks  :p
Yes, I will be competing in dance, but just maybe one or two games.
I have emailed a few people down there concerning the competitions, and just awaiting a reply after the holidays.
I am very excited   :D
I will have to keep you guys informed while I'm down there. I have unlimited access to a hooked up computer during my stay. Ahh.. my salvation to relieve boredom!!!
Even if I don't compete, you bet I will go and watch a few!
ps- thanks for the web address Scotty! I still need to check it out, but any, even the tiniest, information is better than nothing at all  ;)

Best of luck in Aus.
We have a heat wave going on here in the frozen north.  It's a balmy +36F.  Almost shorts weather  :p
I'm looking forward to hearing how things go for you in Aus, please keep us all posted.
Happy New Year! ! ! ! !
