BBC has alot of Comedy programs. MANY of them come on Sat's night here in the states. What's your favorite program?

Mine is "Keeping up Appearences", what's yours?

Blackadder by a mile. Seen each series so many times and it never gets old or less funny.

BBC has comedy programs?

Ground Force is my favorite BBC program and it has plenty of humor involved for me.

I've got to agree with snowblind on this one. Blackadder is my favorite (the WWII series specifically). After that would have to be Are You Being Served, then Fawlty Towers.
Of course none of these are played locally anymore. sad.gif (At least not on any of the channels that I get.)

I, of course, love Black Adder and Fawlty Towers. Also,

The Young Ones
The Manor Born
Good Neighbors
As Time Goes By
The Blue Line

and recent favorites

Coupling
My Hero

Supposedly American TV was trying to recreate Coupling, but it was and abysmal failure. But it was nice to see one of the guys from it in Pirate of the Carribean.

I really must not post before coffee.

Are You Being Served is hilarious. So Graham Norton is my current British fav. Watch it on BBC America. I've never seen Black Adder, but I've heard of it.

Unfortunately Benny Hill is no longer on the air. sad.gif

No one said Monty Python? unsure.gif

Absolutely my favorite. Then Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, though I haven't seen very many episodes. Absolutely Fabulous is a BBC program, right? Now that stuff's funny as hell.

Yep, Monty Phyton is good! Very Very funny!

Posted by: RobertH 08-Apr-2004, 09:04 PM
Monty Python is THE classic! Scottish time bomb, dead parrot, etc... My wife doesn't understand why the Minister of Silly Walks sketch is hilarious, but then she doesn't get the Three Stooges either!

Posted by: RavenWing 09-Apr-2004, 06:53 AM
I regualarly watch Monty Pyton and Dead Ringers.

Posted by: Annabelle 09-Apr-2004, 08:21 AM
I've never seen Dead Ringers!? What is that about?

Posted by: RavenWing 09-Apr-2004, 10:20 AM
It is a comedy show where they spoof people.

IU watch it on BBC America. Unfortunately, I have to have digital cable to get BBC America.

Hi All,
Back when I was in High School, way back when, one of our local stations WTTW would play Monty Python's Flying Circus, Dave Allen, The Two Ronnies, & Doctor Who on Sunday nights. Come monday morning there would be a group of us that would do a skit in MPFC during homeroom. I still love each and every one of those shows. I was lucky enough to record most of the Doctor Who's since they are next to impossible to find. I do watch them from time to time. MPFC and Fawlty Towers I can see on BBC Am every once in a while. I wish I could find Dave Allen and The Two Ronnies though. Some classic English comedy!!

I really love Python when its skits like "Minister of Silly Walks" and my all-time favorite "Argument Clinic", but I must admit a lot of their stuff bothers me: I can't stand the bits when they're cruel to animals, and sometimes skits don't strike my funny bone.

I saw the Fawlty Towers series for the first time a few months ago on BBCAmerica, and watched it weekly with delight - Cleese is brillant, a walking caricature! Doesn't the show look dated now, with the hair-dos... still funny though. And if you've ever stayed in a UK B&B you'll enjoy it.

What is that sit-com that has the British Dept store? It's always soooo funny! Some time the older woman has pink hair, then the next time I see it, it's green or blue. The hair do's are so dated yet great humor. I can never remember the name of the show...must be ADD again.

Thats Are you being Served smile.gif

Whew ! someone said Dr Who..
I was ready to take a pulse here..

ANY thing with John Cleese is a delight to me..
the man is JUST funny ...

Ab Fab rocks.... I love that show..

I am seriously thinking about plunking down some money for the entire
Monty Python DVD collection...

In Service to the Dream.

One more vote for Monty Python, with Minister of Silly Walks and Dead Parrot being classics. My all-time favorite was "Hello. It's just gone 8 o'clock and time for the penguin on top of your television set to explode."

My lovely bride and I like the BBC version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway". The USA version just ain't as funny.

What is the site com that has a oversexed female Kirk on it?

Is there any show other than the Black Adder? I have the whole series (plus specials) on DVD. I will admit to also liking Mr Bean.

Def. like Are You Being Served? and...arr, the one w/ Judi Dench is As Time Goes By, isn't it? 's fun.

And Coupling, as on the BBC, was friggin' hilarious. Loved it. I know they tried an American version, but... I dunno. It was just fine as it was. Should have just syndicated it in public, as opposed to hiding it on public TV.

Oooh, I remember the days when I could watch I, Spy on one of the public TV channels. That was friggin' awesome. Loved that show. Not BBC or anything, but quite fun.

That's it, Are you being served! O, cracks me up all the time!

Posted by: barddas 13-Apr-2004, 11:36 AM
I would say for me it is a tie between Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Are you being served.

I love those two shows!
Keeping up Appearances is good too! ( Oh, poor, Richard!)
When I was a kid i loved the Young Ones. It's still pretty funny... and all these years that have past I still find m'self asking ...'have we got a video?' LOL! Good times!!!!

Oh, yeah! Graham's a hoot! He has some interesting guests on, too. And some of the stunts he pulls with the audience you'd never get away with in the US. Very appropriate emoticon!

Glad to see you are from the House of Gordon!
I'm a Gordon (born) and my decendents come over thru Huntley Scotland. It's funny are you my Uncle James? Just kidding! I do have a Uncle James for real here in Macon Georgia. There were alot of James', Richards, Roberts in the Family. Funny how those names repeat themselves.
My favorite Gordon was Gavin who was my 8th great grandfather! Just love that name!
So welcome to CRadio Uncle James!

I expected that movie to be really lame, for some reason, because I didn't really know if Rowan could do anything but Bean... we finally saw it recently and altho its not 4-star it really had some funny bits in it! We enjoyed it immensely.
