I would guess today that CR isn't kicking too high. They have over 3 ft of new snow in Boston. Joking aside, the forums are a bit slow but the music continues. I too have been away for a while.

This is truly tragic. They will all be in my prayers. Though there are many reasons that these things happen today most relate to our economic times. There is a lot of stress behind closed doors in all of our neighborhoods.

It is well worth the effort. Just a study of the clans and their history is interesting reading containing everything found in a good novel today, from romance to murder. For the most part the clans were not a genteel lot.

Should you decide to search, I wish you good luck!

That is a far cry from the 70% plus he would have normally gotten and to my knowledge there was no nationwide exit poll taken, probably only some local ones, so the percentage could be much more or much less. I am doing a check from across the country through Tea Party groups to find just how many exit polls, if any, involving Catholic voters might have been done. In 5 surrounding counties plus mine own no one was polled concerning religious affiliation and how they may have voted. We had only the presidential and one senate seat that was exit polled.

In my county the Catholics are predominately conservative and since obama lost by a greater margin than 2008, one could conclude that some liberals failed to vote for him this time.

I can only conclude that your 50% is highly suspect and may include but a few "selected" polling areas.

On Sunday our priest made the strongest case yet for Catholics to follow their beliefs in the voting booth this election. I usually leave a few min. early but stayed to get a feel about how the message was received. My parish will be voting predominately for Romney it would appear.

QUOTE (merle @ 29-Jun-2012, 12:39 AM)
I may dumb but what does this have to do with religious freedom?

The government is telling the Catholic church what parts of it's religious beliefs it can NOT follow. The Catholic faith was not included till HHS included it by mandate. This is government controlling religion by application of laws and mandates, thus a violation of the Constitution. The Muslim religion which believes that only husbands can decide if their wives have access to birth control was given an exemption for "some" reason.

The majority of Catholics will vote to maintain their religion (whether they practice all of its beliefs or not.) They do not want govt involved in their church and know they will have access to birth control if they choose to use it any way.

The govt position is all about control which seems to be what this far left administration is all about.

Actually, in 2010, we found a number of deceased individuals who voted. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse voted. Disenfranchised prisoners voted and many registrations came back to vacant lots. A voter ID even if provided at no charge by govt just makes it harder for this to happen. 35 years ago my company specialized in providing photo ID's for those dealing with state and federal govt.

A voter ID would keep me from casting your vote prior to an election were I inclined to do such a thing. Fortunately I and Most American citizens are not so inclined. Sadly some are not

Franciscan University, which is already the first college to drop its student health coverage over the mandate, also joined the legal challenge in Monday, filing suit in a federal court in Ohio.  Ave Maria will probably be next.  Good to see the the Diocese of Michigan in on this.

By the way my own Diocese of Marquette, MI is closer to getting its own saint.  Bishop Baraga has been named Venerable.  The miracle that is needed for beautification is currently under investigation in Rome.

I know attaining saint hood is usually a slow process but please keep me posted on the progress.

I am glad to hear that. There is to come a time when christians must stand for their beliefs. It is possible that time is now.

I just caught on CNN (and just now on Fox) that Kenedy and one of his D buds co saponsored a bill 8 or 9 yrs ago, which passed both houses and was signed into law, that exempted ALL religious groups from ANY govt mandate. That should end any litigation quickly in favor of religion. When we meet for lunch, I will ask the two attorneys in the group to locate the law.

The Democrat Party changed from representing the people under Lyndon Johnson. Since 1962 the Democrat party has steady progressed to a more big government and socialist ideology. The Muslins were given an exemption to Obama Care. That exemption is on page 107 or 170 of Obama Care. Did you know that Obama Care will have access to your bank account, 401-k, IRA and any type of financial instructment that you have. In other words you will loose control of your finances.

I invested everything in metals in 2005 and 2006. There is nothing here for them get get their hands on. I too maintain low balances on my checking accounts. The problem with the HC bill is that it is now over 7K pages.Several medications that I took are no longer available. There is likely to soon be a download of the bill and an index. I brought that up and was told that it was in progress.

My last priest was quite out going and we had many discussions about where the country/world is heading. Unfortunately the new one is quite reserved.

The "Seven Seals" is an interesting passage and I read it often.

I believe people of religion will stand for what they believe and we may see people standing up for their rights.

I can assure all that Catholics are not going to accept this and some of the other religions are supporting us. It is the beginning attack on all religion. Catholic churches in some of the Western states with substantial hispanic (Catholic) parishioners have seen standing ovations when the topic of passive resistance to the mandate was brought up. There was applause in my church. Interestingly muslims appear to have been given a pass due to sharia law. Only a male muslim has control of his wife. I will have to go back and look it up to find the page for that one. I got my copy when the initial publication became available and in slightly larger font, it was over 3,000 pages. Mandates, interpretations and xo's have more than doubled it's size now. I checked on an update and it is now over 7,000 pages. It needs to be indexed and made availavle as a PDF download. I expect the Catholic church will be back in force depending in part, on the outcome at the SC. I also would expect that the Priests and Deacons will do as in the past before some elections, and "offer" personal meetings to explain the church position on what/who is best for Catholics. The mandate will weigh heavily in those meetings.

For the first time in years, the price of regular gasoline here has passed that of Diesel fuel. $3.89 for gas as opposed to $3.83 for Diesel. The price of Diesel has not changed for at least two months which one should find suspect. Inflation is now coming to bear in the market place. Those who have not prepared and many who have are in for some rough times. The outlet for precious metals in a neighboring state is doing a land office business and one must now have an appointment to take scrap in for reprocessing or to pick up purchases. We live in interesting times!

"The measures adopted to restore public order are: First of all, the elimination of the so-called subversive elements .... They were elements of disorder and subversion. On the morrow of each conflict I gave the categorical order to confiscate the largest possible number of weapons of every sort and kind. This confiscation, which continues with the utmost energy, has given satisfactory results."

- Benito Mussolini

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing."

- Adolf Hitler

“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!”

Adolf Hitler

“All military type firearms are to be handed in immediately...The SS, SA and Stahlhelm give every responsible opportunity of campaigning with them. Therefore anyone who does not belong to one of the above-named organizations and who unjustifiably nevertheless keeps his weapon...must be regarded as an enemy of the national government.”

— SA Oberfuhrer of Bad Tolz, March, 1933.

And to start the Halocost:

On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, passed Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.

Quotes from a terrible time in our history and sadly we can find senators and house members here on the left (also a few on the right) who echo the above sentiments, with the exception being the quote related to the Jewish people.
