Here are my favorite quotes from Lord of the Rings. Frodo: I wish none of this had happen. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. Yes these are great truths, which because they come in the form enetainment,  are missed and not given the thought they deserve.  Great philosphers of history, did not just sit around and think, they bumped in to the univeral inteligence, while living a doing their day to day work.
I'm all set to get tickets, as soon as the go one sell, for opening day of the next one. Yes I'm taking the grandkids to that one too.

Yes, those are such true words. I am thinking on getting the 3 books this christmas and actually reading the LOTR, instead of the movie.

BTW, call me Paul! Mr. MacArthur does not fit me very well....

OMG Mac! Are you telling us, you have got as old as you are, and never read "The Hobbit" and the 3 "Lord of the Rings" set?   Where ever have you been? Next we'll hear you haven't read "Clan of the Cave Bear" and the books after it.

It is true, while everyone reads books, i am delving into XML, C++, Visual Basic, Unix, learning about data-buses, bits, bytes, cmos, etc.

Plus with raising 4 kids with the majority of them born in my 20's I have tended to reading things such as Cat in the Hat, Things that go bump in the night, Golden Books, Honey Bear....lol  

I am just graduating to more advanced readings!  

Mac I read "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" and all of those sorts of books while I was in Jr. High - I was the considered the class "nerd" back then, just like kids who were into computers were considered "freaks" and "geeks."

There wasnt anything wrong with us - we were just way ahead of our time! Now that I am grown, I watch all of the books we read back then come to life on the movie screen, and it is so interesting to see what can be done when theatrical wisdom meets computer wizardry!

Don't throw away your Cat In The Hat or Green Eggs and Ham, just put them up on the shelf to read to the Grandbabies when they visit.

I love the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit (and some other fantasy like the Darkover Novels and stuff like The endless knot trilogy. I don´t know how many times i read that novel; must be near 50 times if not more ... "Its not a bad ending, even if the words have been used before ... " Slainte!

Another one which is very true, Sam talking to Frodo on the stairs of Cirith Ungol:

I first read lotr first when i was 15 my dad gave it to me, and since them i'm quite into fantasy. I play alot of RPG's and I'm also found on LARP's with a horse and a rubber sword!

Has someone of you ever read David Eddings? Great story writer. has quite a good humor, I just bought the complete Belgariad and wait for the Malloreon....

I think my favorite "quote" is actually an action one of the trees took, by putting it's head in the water to put out the fire burnin' on it. lol

Must be one of the Ents I guess. How else should the poor creature get out of its trouble? But I think they d been realized absolutely great in film (the Ents I mean). Still cant wait till it gets to Skye, in the meantime had a look at website thetwotowers.net or something like that, fantastic and verra enlightening just disappointed about merchandise stuff.  

I liked the part when the Tree Elf calls the two hobbits "shire- lings" Since our SCA groups are organized into "shires" and I am now honored to be the Minister of Children for my particular shire, I call our children within my group "shire-lings" which always brings a giggle!

One of my favorite parts in The Two Towers is actually not in the book. The whole part when Gollum is arguing with himself is really funny. I also love the part when Sam is wishing for potatoes and Gollum says, "What's 'taters, precious, what's 'taters?"
