I'm not a real veggie man either. Love corn though. White sweet corn. I can hardly wait until it's back in season. MMMM! I like a good salad with ranch dressing, too.

Cheers!

Normal is a relative term. For some reason it is not a term my relatives use to describe me.

...Sloppy Joes and beans? What kind of beans? Actually sounds kinda good. ...

She used canned Pinto beans, she had flour tortillas and rolls, your choice to eat it on... I myself just put it in a bowl and grazed!!! LOL!!! She used sloppy joe mix and taco mix.

Works for me. I think it sounds good. She can cook for my family any day.

I just wish I could get my kids to cook! Their idea of cooking is macroni and cheese.

Eamon, how nice to see you! smile.gif tongue.gif

Try to eat more vegs and salad; good for health, skin, vigor...good thing anyhow! cool.gif

Hello Gaberlunzie!! *waving*

Salad is merely a vehicle for the dressing and topping. I think Drew Carey said it best when he was asked what he liked on his salad. He answered: 'Pie.'

I love veggies, with Asparagus being my fav. Can't do corn anymore Sarge. Its a shame, because the New Jersey sweet corn is great (and the only export of NJ that is worth attention)

My son's taking home ec. He came home one night and made butterscotch biscuits for us. They were great. Now, if only he will learn to clean up after himself. My daughter likes to cook. I need to spend more time with them doing that. Too often it's throw supper together so we can get someone out the door.

Dinner? Isn't that the activity where people sit and partake of nourishment and actually talk to each other?

Talking is optional biggrin.gif

Actually my kids have great fun at the dinner table. So much so that they are still there an hour later.

Todd,
We use food to teach, I know sounds funny but...

The kids study someplace in Geography or History , we use the foods from that time or place...

Measurements teach fractions...

Planning a meal teaches logic and proper nutrition...

and most of all it teaches that family and working together can make something wonderful!

Mac and cheese is a good start, try to stay away from the microwave, that makes things to easy and does not promote working together.

I KNOW I AM WEIRD!!!! But it has helped us raise 6 talented and caring kids!

Gee, y'all eat Dinner huh?

Last night for supper we had barbecued animals.

We had a barbecued chicken estilo panameña, some really good chorizos that had lots of garlic and culantro in them and some smoked pork chops that I grilled after everything else.

Yummy and peaceful ´cause everyone was watching the parade so I was at the house alone, barbecueing and smoking a cigar and drinking a really icy gin and tonic listening to some old rythym and blues and staying off my leg. My only responsibility was to have the meat done when the folks got back. I failed, they had to wait a while.
