My Son just told me that I'm going to be a Grampa! I was hoping to hold out till 55, but the baby is due around my birthday, so I will be 53, that's ALMOST 55. There are a few other issues, but for the most part my Wife and I are REALLY happy! I will post updates as things develop.

]AN EXCERPT FROM A POEM THAT I WROTE ON 10/11/07
WE CAN'T CHANGE WHAT WE HAVE DONE.... BUT ONLY TAKE A LESSON FROM EACH EXPERIENCE AND MAKE THE MOST OF EACH MINUTE THAT WE HAVE LEFT AND TELL OURELVES THAT IT IS OK TO LIVE, LAUGH AND CRY..... PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GIVE US WHAT WE CAN AND SHOULD EXPERIENCE AND WE NEED TO CHERISH ALL OF THE TIME THAT WE SPEND WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS MAKING THE MOST OF THE SPECIAL MEMORIES THAT ARE OURS.. AND THE ONES THAT WE HAVE YET TO CREATE WITH THE PEOPLE THAT WE HAVEN'T MET!!!!![/SIZE]
Congratulations to both of you! What a blessing! The best thing about grandkids (so I've heard) is that when you get done spoiling them, you get to send them home to mom and dad to deal with!

I, like our Ms. Maggie, was 40 when our first Granddaughter was born. I had Just turned 50 and now I have 8 Grandchildren (5 of which are through my Kids marrying someone with kids already) but I treat them all the same. (4) Granddaughters and (4) Grandsons.
And yes it is True that you can Spoil them and then send them Home. That is the Best part of it all.

May your days be filled with Merriment and May you walk in Balance with Creator.
I'm not old enough to have grandkids (although the color of my hair says different ), but I do have three little angels in my life, two nieces and a nephew (look to my avatar for their picture), and just being around them brightens up my day! Back at my parents' old house, they used to love it when Uncle Mike would take them to the nearby school playground. It was closer than either of the parks in our old neighborhood, so we could just walk over.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Well, it seems we are to have a Grand daughter. The kids found out but weren't supposed to tell us. Hey! you're not SUPPOSED to know until the baby gets here. That's the way it is! But Jessica blurted out SHE the other night sitting behind me in the truck, then said "This is hard, I'm going to give it away." I responded "You just did." So now the cat is out so to speak, and all that's left is the waiting. That's the latest.
Congrats Dogshirt. So, have they picked out any names yet. At this point my two oldest are first years in college and the youngest still in high school so I'm trying to avoid the whole marriage/grandchildren thing at this point. I can barely afford gas for the cars so I can wait as long as they can. Good luck and have fun! Remember when they did something bad and we said. "I hope when you have kids..."
