Please pray for my niece's boyfriend. He was in a motorcycle accident and broke both his legs, and has internal injuries. His legs required surgery. One was too bad to pin back together and he might lose that foot.

My niece is very worried, beyond the physical aspect that he might turn angry and bitter. She just learned he is an atheist, he hadn't told her before. So in all this, he has no faith to pull him through. Please pray for her as well.

John is a young man in crisis in many ways. Please pray his body heals and he doesn't lose his foot, but more importantly, please pray this does not turn him bitter but instead turns him to God. Please pray God's Love showers down upon him in such a tangible way he can no longer deny the Father who loves him. Pray he can see our Heavenly Father is not like his earthly one.

Thank you all.

Sure will be praying for John, Elspeth. May His sweet mercy be evident to him and may John turn to the Lord.

Thank you all for your prayers. John had to have an emergency surgery today, one they didn't know if he'd live through, but he made it.
So many care for this young man and are worried about him. I know my niece and John's mother are being carried on the wings of prayer, as is John.

I just read this post. I'm so sorry to hear what John is going thru. Hopefully his body will heal, the most important thing is that He realizes that there is a God and he can heal the body as well as the spirit. I know something like this is very hard on a person to deal with. My son-in-law had a really bad motorcycle accident in August of 2006. He had 40 something bone breaks and has so much metal in him he would probably set off a metal detector a mile off. In a few years he's going to have to have knee replacements. God was very good and allowed him to pull thru this and was able to be with his family. When he moved in with us he was carried in on a stretch and couldn't do anything at all for himself...He went from being flat on his back and completely helpless to being able to go back to work on light duty a couple of weeks ago. For some reason it wasn't enough and as of now my daughter is now going thru a divorce. It breaks my heart for her to have to go thru this..The saddest thing is they have a beautiful baby girl and her Dad doesn't seem to want to be a part of her life anymore, she has now been so much a part of my hubby and my life that I can't imagine her not being here.
I do pray that John recovers but most of all I hope John comes to the knowledge that there is a God...sorry that I got off on my soon to be s-i-l...we never know what we may have to endure in this life!!!

Thanks Maggie! When I posted this, I wondered how your son-in-law fared. I'm so sorry to hear he's distanced himself from his family. Recovering is so much more complicated than bodily healing, isn't it? I pray he realizes what he's turning away from before it's too late.

So far, John is holding his own. Still critical, but still here.

Thanks all for your prayers.

Thanks you all for your prayers.

Here is an update as of yesterday.

April 1 Update:

- He has awake moments and can communicate through facial movements
- His temp is ranging from "NORMAL" to 100. It's staying much more reasonable.
- His swelling is also going down, especially in his abdomen.
- At Noon they began weaning him off the respirator.
- It's still baby steps and he has a long road to recovery, but he is moving forward.

You all are so wonderful! smile.gif

Elspeth, what wonderful news. How great that he is being weaned off the respirator. Baby steps are a blessed beginning! His condition sounds so much like what my son-in-law went thru... I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers...

Thanks Maggie, but you know how it goes, steps forward, steps back.

John's fever rose again and they are sedating him so he can better fight the infection. He didn't react well to the removal of the respirator, so it's back in. They said it often takes many times.

My niece misses him.

Such a difficult situation all around.

Elspeth, how well I know about the one step forward and two steps back...I hope John has a very supportive family. That helps so much in a time like this. My prayers for all...

Update on John.... This is from his mother.

Roller Coaster

Johnny has pneumonia (bacterial & fungal). Temp still around 102. Weaning from the respirator will have to wait.

Most of our visits he's been calm and alert. He still gets very stressed when the nurses are working on him. Also his coughing is upsetting to him. It's so hard for him to understand that he needs to stay calm and resting.

He also has fluid in his groin area. They will monitor it for the next 2 days before a decision is made.

Keep the prayers coming.

Please, keep the prayers coming. Tomorrow will be two weeks since the accident...
Yes, Maggie, John has support from family, my niece and a multitude of friends. He truly is blessed with people who care about him. I just pray her recovers so he can give each and every one of them a hug to say thanks.
And here's a virtual hug for all of you who have cared and prayed from John.

You are always in our thoughts and prayers. I know all too well how upsetting nurses and hospitals can be. John is in the Lord's hands and he will care for him and keep him safe. I have asked Jean-Thomas to come stay with John and help him however he can. What sort of things does John like? What kind of music does he like? I know when I'm getting frustrated or hurting or sick that nice quiet music or someone reading a good story always helps me feel better. He needs to be distracted from the hurting and be able to relax and rest so his body can heal.

Thank you so much Rebecca Ann. John's mom said he is repsonding well to my niece's voice. It helps keep him calm.

She wrote this yesterday....

Our Easter prayers were answered.

Johnny is still sedated but when awake is calm and alert. His white blood cell count is finally normal. He responds to the nurse's questions with nods or shakes of his head and squeezes of his hands.

And the very BEST news: he began being weaned from the respirator.

The road is still long, but the baby steps are going forward again.

Thanks for all the support, prayers and your love for Johnny.

Thank you all for your prayers. smile.gif
