Because of Celtic Radio I have had the priviledge of hearing and learning more about Celtic music and as a result my CD collection has grown.

My favorite songs are:

1. The Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKinnett
2. Scotland the Brave (by any artist)
3. Anything by Capercaillie
4. Anything by Runrig

My list will be growing!

CDs that I have purchased since listening to Celtic Radio has been Capercaillie and Runrig. My latest has been John McLean Allan's "Stand Easy." Absolutely wonderful CD and a must get if you like Bagpipes and rock together!

Anxious to hear your favorites and recommendations. smile.gif walkman.gif

I just feel glad that now I know what you do with a drunken sailor. Now I just need to buy a boat, get my wife on it, purchase a hose pipe, and find that dang scuppers.

HR has introduced me to ALL the Celtic music I now know and love (previously I had a few Celtic hymns CD's).

My fav's:

Heather Dale - Mordred's Lullaby is the best
Barret's Privateers/Garnet's Home Made Beer - Stan Rogers, Irish Descendants, Ian Robb
Rattlin' Bog
Every River from some anonymous band on the Celtic Dawn album
Flower of Scotland (most all versions)
Heave Away - Heave Away
Most Great Big Sea, Clancy Bros, Alphabet Song, The Fly, Wellington Boots (basically list all the humour songs)
Capercaillie - The Tree and Mionam are my favs
Wicked Tinkers, Scottish Rogues, Clan An Drumma for those Highland Pipe/Drum moments
Rankin Family - Mull River Shuffle

Oh...too much to list.

Bands I'd like to hear less of : Runrig, Glengharry Boys

Since listening to HR I've discovered that I am a fan of the following groups:
Schooner Fare: Alive
The Fenians: Band of Rogues
Amadan: Sons of Liberty
Runrig: Celtic Glory
Stone Soup Band: Free Night in Dublin
Great Big Sea: Up

I've gone to the local music stores but none of them carry any of their CDs nor do they want to special order them. sad.gif
Looks like I have to buy online... (I'll probably get a better deal though!! biggrin.gif )

I posted a list some time back of CD's I have thanks to HR. That list has changed though, and grown. Let me re-compile:

Currently in my collection:

Emerald Rose: Bending Tradition
Heather Dale: The Trial of Lancelot
Heather Dale: May Queen
(not directly, but really anything I buy of Heather's is thanks to discovering her here)
Heather Dale: Call the Names
Clannad: Banba
Connie Dover: Border of Heaven
Natalie MacMaster: No Boundaries (Also thanks to the Celtic Tides documentary)
Siu'cra: Here Among Strangers
Rise: Uncertain Wonders
Steve McDonald: Sons of Somerled
Frank McCourt, Roma Downey, and Pan Morigan: Castles of Gold
Ennis Sisters: 3
(Just came in today, and not officially linked into my library just yet. Will be within the next 48 hours though)

On order:

Amadan: Sons of Liberty

Trying to get ahold of:

Silly Wizard: Live Wizardry

I was just sorting through my CD collection last night, and if you only count CD's, then I have more Celtic music than any other style or Genre. Now, if you add in Cassette, LP, and 8-trak, then obviously the numbers shift to where I have more Pop Rock and perhaps even more contemporary Country music, but CD only, Celtic folk tops the charts in multiple ways.

I have really come to love the Wicked Tinkers! I think I might get one of their CDs as well.

How could I have forgotten Natalie McMaster -- The Drunken Piper! I LOVE that song!

Drunken Piper and Catharsis were the ones that filled my pre-purchase requirement of liking 2 songs on the CD first. I already had Catharsis on the soundtrack to the Celtic Tides documentary, and had heard Drunken Piper on said video but I didn't know what it was until I heard it here. Seems like I may have heard more here too before i bought the CD...

I've purchased Dougie MacLean's "Tribute" and "Craigue Dhu" and Runrig's "Stamping Ground" because of songs I heard on Highland Radio.

If everybody who's buying their CDs from Amazon.com uses the links on the website it helps Macfive (and Mrs. Macfive and the kiddies) with the funding of the website and Highland Radio. I also suspect that if you're going to buy something else from Amazon.com that if you go there via the link on the celticradio.net home page those items are also credited to Highland Radio (I pm'd Macfive on this but he hasn't gotten back to me, so I'm guessing based on my reading of the affiliate page at Amazon.com that this is how it works). There is no extra cost associated with buying from Amazon.com (it just lowers their margins when they pay their affiliated websites {they consider to be like paying for advertising})
