Cs Lewis & The New Narnia Movie, This may be good!

I have not read that one! Does it continue one of the children's stories or is it a new character?

I haven't noticed this thread till now and am glad I have. Narnia is a great series. It has such a clear Christian message and yet it's full of imagination which appeals to both children and adults. It's trlanslated into Japanese too. I read the series in English as an adult. My favorite book is Silver Chair. I still remember the excitment when Jill and others had to decide whether to believe the prince and release him or not.

I hardly ever go to a movie but I am going to watch Narnia for sure. The boy who plays Edmund looks so Celtic. Does anyone know his origin?

The Horse and His Boy introduces new characters, but the original children as grown-up royalty appear at the end. I like that particular story quite a bit.

Read the series many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Voyage of the Dawn Treader was especially good, but there's not a bad one in the bunch.

I am hoping to see the movie with my family tonight! I can't wait!

My sister loaned me her copy of the BBC version of TLTWATW. It was pretty good, but I hope the new movie is MUCH better! The graphics were poor, and the woman who played the White Witch was a very bad actress! I guess she was overplaying her role to try to look mean for the kids, but it just didn't work for me. I relaize that it was made for TV, and probably had a low budget, and that it was made back in the (80s? 90s?) and that graphics weren't as good then, but I think it could have been done better.

Does anyone remember an animated version of the story that came out either in the 70s or 80s? I remember seeing it as a kid, but can't find it anywhere now.

Wel, I finally got to watch Narnia today! It was the second movie I've ever watched in the last 20 years and was worth every penny! (The other was King Arthur which wasn't so good.) Special effects were put to great use and the little actors were amazing. Anyone else have any comments? Wizard, what did you think?

By the way, can't Americans watch movies without eating popcorns? The sound of the multitude munching on them was rather distracting!

It's almost as if the munching is crucial to enjoying the film! I agree, its quite distracting... actually I don't even buy popcorn when I'm planning on really enjoying a movie, like when I saw the LotR films I got so into them that I would have spilled any popcorn I was holding anyway.

Well I FINALLY saw Narnia - didn't munch a thing either - and liked it very much! What a good job they did of bringing the book to the big screen. Aslan is so magnificent, the Witch is genuinely nasty but stupid, and the kids were wonderful!!

It has been a number of years, but I enjoyed the book. I, too, remember the animated version many a moons ago and thought it was great. I have been told, however, there is a slight difference from the series, but that's Hollywood for yeah. I am thinking about picking up the books again and seeing the movie at some point.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to see it! But guess who will be first in line to buy the DVD when it goes on sale!

I don't know. In America, movies and popcorn just seem to go hand in hand! I can go out to a restaurant and eat a huge meal, then go to a movie and STILL have to have popcorn! Don't know why....

Narnia is coming out on DVD in just a few weeks, isn't it?? I thought we'd have to wait til the end of the year. That's going to be nice, having it in our collection soon.
