Ths year was wicked fun. I love the Tarot readings every year, and this year I got hooked on Greek food. Shout out if you were there.

Hey Dade! Thanks for the link. It looks like an awesome event. Saw that it was near or somewhat near three places I would love to go to, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. I have been in about TX many times, but never the southern part. Gotta work on hubby for a trip there as well. Thanks so much! smile.gif

I really want to go someday. I get the literature every year. Have lived in Texas most of my life, but never been further south than Dallas. sad.gif

I was in Texas about three years ago and loved San Antonio. My father in law lives in Rusk just south of Tyler. We missed the ren faire but we do hope to make it down there again just for that. There are so many acts that we want to see and MN Ren faire is getting a little boring. We also want to check out Medieval Times in Dallas some year.

MT was fun, I went to one in Orlando. I wish they had built on here.

I'm not sure on the distance from Huston to dallas but it seems you're not too far away from one compared to us. Its a good eight to nine hour drive from our place to Chicago which is the nearest one for us. We missed a rennie gathering there one year and we are hoping for another to show up before we make that kind of drive.

Hello everyone.

I wanted to let everyone know that the Texas Renaissance Festival is a huge site. I have worked there the past 10 years. This most recent years I was a Conquistador named Don Miguel Luis Alfonso De La Esperanza of Spain. My assigned area was pretty much sticking around the Spanish Food area.

I live in Houston and it’s about a solid 1 hour drive from downtown Houston. From Dallas it’s about a 2 and a half hour and there are many people that come from all over the state, even from North of Dallas. There are other forums or bulletin boards that have more information on different groups that come out to TRF, like Camp Chaos, Clan McNaughty, etc etc.

It is well worth the trip from anywhere you come from to visit the festival.

Weekends open are the second weekend in October of this year and will run for a total of 8 weekends. This included Friday Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.

Well wishes to all.

Lift up thy cares!!!

I live in Utah now, but grew up going to the Ren Festival outside of Houston. It was anazing. As a little kid, I thought some of the jousting was pretty intense, but learned to love it. Do they still do that? My favorite parts were the theatre and the glass-blowing. The artisans were incredible. And my parents would always buy my sisters and me the wreaths of flowers for our hair that are sold there. Quite magical for a romantic little girl.
