I am totally Humbled to those of you who have Dial Up Service for I have no patience for things that I have to wait on.

I did read the Post on Site Wierdness and I do understand what is going on here. But it drives me nuts waiting 2 minutes to change pages everytime. I know I am a fisherman and suppose to have the patience of a Saint, and when it comes to fishing, I do. But when it comes to Computers, I have a zero tolerance.

I am not needing any additional stress to my life so I will have the patience and wait until everything here is up and running again. I will check in every now and then, and when we are up and running, I will be back driving everyone nuts again.

Until then everyone have yourselfs' a Pleasant and Safe Holiday.

I have to agree with Sir Bercot; it is very frustrating. I'm registering students for next year so have a few minutes to kill and this is interesting entertainment and the companionship is great, but......

Hopefully things will speed up here and life will be better biggrin.gif

We miss you, Richard!

I don't think I could ever go back to dial-up. I have mopre patience than anyone I know but once you get a taste of broadband you cannot go back.

I have dialup at home and the cabin as I'm too cheap to buy 2 dsl services. At work we do have a fast hook up but this is still slow. I hate the dial up when playing poker as it is slow and sometimes the connection is poor. beer_mug.gif

Dial-up? Dial-up? What's that tongue.gif ?

Ohhh, now I remember. I remember the slow loads, the dropped connections, not being able to get on at peak hours. Thanks alot for reminding me, Richard censored.gif !

I don't know if I still have our first modem or not, let me look. Hmm, not by the 8-track player...not in the Edsel...ah, here it is! Right next to the T-Rex tongue.gif biggrin.gif !

OH yea fair weather friends!!!!!

I use dial up and will not pay the added expense of anyother system...besides the point it leaves you wide open to hacking ( firewalls are a joke ! )

Paul I understand that you need time to get things back to normal and I have the patience of a saint ( six kids I aught to LOL! )

Things will get back to normal as they will!!!

As a dial up person (yes, we do exist) I didn't notice any difference. biggrin.gif

Wow, I thought that I would check this out this morning and this moves faster than I can ever remember. biggrin.gif

There may be about a 2 second wait between pages now (if it took that long). Just my speed. wink.gif

You will probably see me racing through site now. tongue.gif

Dialup is manageable for most things. I remember it driving me nuts on downloads though. I was on Dialup when I discovered Highlander Radio, and I remember that I could listen to the stream, chat on IRC, and reload the currently playing page with no problem, so long as I was going through my Linux router. I dropped to a direct modem connection in my dad's laptop when I had to take down half my LAN for new carpet to be laid, and I was doing good to keep up with the stream. I still wouldn't go back to dialup though. It does add another good thing about tabbed browsers. start one page loading, and go back to finish reading another one while that one loads.
