COLOR=DarkBlue]Hi everyone!
Upon the suggestion from Siante(sp?), I'm posting an inquiry here at this site. What I'm looking for are Celtic or Irish-designed leather braces & greaves. Braces & greaves are medieval (and earlier) armor for lower arms & lower legs.

My son (Michael) has a tremendous interest in things military, armor, swords, and histories. I've only found one place online that offers leather, Celtic or Irish-designed braces...but no leather Celtic or Irish-designed greaves! This despite an extensive search!

My family comes from a long history of Irish lines...Joyce, Connelly, O'Connor...and Michael has a great interest in anything of Gaelic, Irish, Celtic origin as a result of that family lineage. Since he's grey/green-eyed and red-haired it's pretty obvious what his origins are. He was born premature & has overcome so many things. Michael's doing pretty well in school & is his high schools' number one track & field athlete...despite his premature arrival, the breathing monitoring machine & physical therapy he needed, the ADHD and our family history that he has survived. For all those things, I'd like to do something special for him. Michael's 18th birthday is here & I'd like to be able to find Celtic or Irish-designed leather braces & greaves as his birthday gift from his mom. I know this paragraph doesn't have anything to do with my quest, my inquiry, but I wanted to give you all some explanations for what I'm trying to do. smile.gif

Can anyone help me with this quest? I've tried everything I can think of, but I'm open to suggestions or concrete leads. Please help me make my son's birthday special for him. Needless to say, I'd appreciate any assistance from any of you at this site here.

Irishheart22, Diana,
If you can't find pre made ones perhaps try a tack shop. If you have pics or an idea about what you are looking for, they may be able to make them for you. I know the tack shop near me has made several custom items for me .
Best of luck and I hope and trust your life is better every day. thumbs_up.gif

Here is a couple sites that have some nice ones

http://www.strongblade.com/nav/greaves.html?fnav13
http://www.eeldrytch.com/

I used yahoo search for the first one. Found some other sites but they were not as good looking as what these two sites had to offer. With Eeldrytch if you click on the "next" button after you look at one of the bracers it brings up better examples of what they can do. There is one more out ther that had some really nice ones but I have yet to remember the name.
