Send us all a picture of the weather in your area right about now? It's like getting postcards from faraway places and we all love that, right?

Here's mine from today's local paper

I wish I knew how to do that ..
but , noone wants to see 42 degrees with a good chance of snow flurries by morning...

*Sigh* this part of the world really got cheated out of a summer this year..

That sunset and beach look lovley ..

I usually don't complain about the weather since I can't change it but I wish our "good" weather would end soon. We have been in a drought for the past three years but got a bit of a reprieve this spring with a pretty wet spring but since July, we have been ridiculously dry. We haven't had measurable precipitation since the Saturday before Labor Day and have been having near record warm temperatures all of October. Daytime highs have been in the mid 80's when normal for October should be about 70-75. We are burning up without a cloud in the sky.

Sorry no picture. sad.gif

We had to remove the graphic of the frontpage newspaper. This is really our fault because we did not properly set an upload limit. The graphic file was exceeding all reasonable limits that websites usually impose.

Sorry about the removal, but we had to do it in order to protect the stability of the site and bandwidth usage.

I will post a general message in our news section, but all photographs and file attachments are now limited to a 500k. This should be plenty for photographs, plus if you know how to reduce the file size with a paint program like photoshop and paintshop, then you can upload just about anything.

I will post details on how to do this in a few days.

Thanks for your understanding.

After spending from age 25 to 40 in places where winters got to -30 below (sometimes -80 below with the wind chill factored in) I don't mind seeing pics of snow......don't wanna be IN snow even after living in the wonderful Sierra Nevada range from age 49 to 55....think I'm over it....but do send your pics......they remind me of the wonderful smell of seasoned oak in the wood stove, fat stacks of quilts, huddling under same with the girlfriend using body heat to keep from freezing, inch-thick ice on the inside of the north wall of the house, skiing through the woods on a moonlit night....skidding The Scout into the ditch, changing out transmissions in the middle of Wyoming during a howling blizzard, frozen plumbing, midnight treks to the outhouse, cutting wood in the woodlot and then splitting it for the stove (wood warms ya twice) the stink of wet wool mittens and sweaters, skiing 5 miles into town for groceries, freezing nights in the barn milking the goats, ice fishing, shoveling show, digging out of 10 foot berms the snowplow built up, backcountry skiing and winter camping in Montana.....and the company of good friends!

Surfing is just a pleasure after all that.

The snow is lying on the hills around Edinburgh - and as far south as the Borders. I was in Galashiels yesterday, and the hills were snowclad all the way... It looked so pretty with the autumnal colours of the trees, highlighted against the snowy hills behind them.... No snow on the lower slopes though.... thank goodness, as it means that winter is not biting too hard just yet!

Going home, the rain turned to sleet, so more may settle on the tops of the hills. Arthur's Seat had a dusting of snow on the top at about 6.00 am yesterday, but that melted in the wintry sunshine.

No snow here in New England yet. Although I am sure that Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire has seen it's first coating, if not in September.

Here is a nice picture of our house last winter. It looks much better in the winter! That's my little girl on the stairs! smile.gif

I'll post a pic or two of some shots I took recently at the local dog park. There are some great trails going through the forest there, and had to blow through a roll in there. tongue.gif

One with my Dog Buffy (the kitty slayer). Yes we named her after Miss Summers. She was so good here. I saw a nice shot, and she had run out ahead. I called her back, told her to stop, sit, and stay. She stopped right where she is and never moved, even with me prancing around, crouching here, then there, trying to set up the shot. She's a good pup. wub.gif

Ok. Just one more. Seriously, I've got to stop myself from uploading the whole roll.
