Not sure on the protocol, but here goes. Ballarat is in the middle of Winter, so is very cold. As distinct from Nth Hemisphere where Summer is blooming !! Celtic Radio is part of my Journey into Celtic Music, which started off as an interest in Irish Music (hasn't everyone thought the Dubliners & Chieftains were the only Irish Groups going !!) Was "dragged" into the Podcasts from Marc Gunn ( originally thought I was being a heretic getting Irish Music from USA, but I think his enthusiasm has converted me)
Have now recognised that Celtic Music is a pretty broad Church and have found interests at Copperplate , Raymond Mc Cullough and Folk Radio plus probably my favourites are Fiona Ritchie in Thistle & Shamrock and Pure Brilliant (from Canada) so the Internet has given me new interests.
In Australia we have a Mick Thomas who is an "Irish " Type folkie. Listen to his songs and you will get what I mean. Particularly " The Cap my Grandfather wore". Another new artist is a Jess Chalker . Sings sometimes with Lior. Good SOund (coming from a person who does not have a musical bone in my body (envy those people) BOth of them are on Youtube.

Hello, dimmy102, from the great Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona! So glad to have you with us!
It was interesting to read about your journey in Celtic music. One of my boys, many years ago, discovered Altan and we started there. It has now grown to many more groups and soloists. There is such a broad array of great sounds out there! Copperplate is certainly a great place for great music. Have used them many times myself.
Some of the groups that I thoroughly enjoy now are the mighty band Lunasa, Teada, Old Blind Dogs, Danu, and a host of others. Enjoy the adventure here in our little corner of the Celtic Universe!
Welcome aboard and have a great day!

Welcome to Celtic Radio and thanks for telling us how you found Celtic Radio.
Marc Gunn has an excellent podcast, actually he produces a number of podcasts and I think we only feature 2 of them on Celtic Radio.
The great thing about Celtic music is the wide range of music that is available. You are just not locked into to the traditional, but can explore all different types of Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Celtic music. Everything from Rock to Bagpipes and more.
Thanks to Haynes9 for those Bands. Yes , I forgot Altan !! Just after I posted I found "Welder's Dog" a folky group form New England (Australia) and they are well worth listening to. Bought their CD
Something stirring about the Bagpipes aren't there. As a kid I went to the Maryborough Highland Thingy on New Years Day. 5 pm Mass Bands....Great !! Take care .
