Posted by: Patch 21-May-2012, 10:56 AM
It was just announced at 12:30 that 43 Arch Dioceses and other entities of the Catholic Church have sued over govt infringement of their Constitutional rights. It is expected that other religious groups will file briefs also.

That's what happens when the USCCB elects a nutcase like Cardinal Dolan over the more moderate Bishop Kicanas president.

I suppose the same could be said about "other so called leaders".

Actually 43 religious entities joined in the litigation.

Franciscan University, which is already the first college to drop its student health coverage over the mandate, also joined the legal challenge in Monday, filing suit in a federal court in Ohio. Ave Maria will probably be next. Good to see the the Diocese of Michigan in on this.

By the way my own Diocese of Marquette, MI is closer to getting its own saint. Bishop Baraga has been named Venerable. The miracle that is needed for beautification is currently under investigation in Rome.

I am glad to hear that. There is to come a time when christians must stand for their beliefs. It is possible that time is now.

I just caught on CNN (and just now on Fox) that Kenedy and one of his D buds co saponsored a bill 8 or 9 yrs ago, which passed both houses and was signed into law, that exempted ALL religious groups from ANY govt mandate. That should end any litigation quickly in favor of religion. When we meet for lunch, I will ask the two attorneys in the group to locate the law.

I know attaining saint hood is usually a slow process but please keep me posted on the progress.

10:15 AM. Liberty dies in America.

I may dumb but what does this have to do with religious freedom? The President is not telling anyone what to worship and I do not see anyones right to worship whatever they want being taken away by the government. If an organization wants funding from the federal government then they have to meet the same standards as everyone else.

Bit of an update: Apparently its your buisness or your religion-you can't have both.

The government is telling the Catholic church what parts of it's religious beliefs it can NOT follow. The Catholic faith was not included till HHS included it by mandate. This is government controlling religion by application of laws and mandates, thus a violation of the Constitution. The Muslim religion which believes that only husbands can decide if their wives have access to birth control was given an exemption for "some" reason.

The majority of Catholics will vote to maintain their religion (whether they practice all of its beliefs or not.) They do not want govt involved in their church and know they will have access to birth control if they choose to use it any way.

The govt position is all about control which seems to be what this far left administration is all about.

On Sunday our priest made the strongest case yet for Catholics to follow their beliefs in the voting booth this election. I usually leave a few min. early but stayed to get a feel about how the message was received. My parish will be voting predominately for Romney it would appear.

Looks like they did...
CNN exit polls show that 50% of catholics voted for Obama.

Posted by: Patch 14-Nov-2012, 02:16 PM
That is a far cry from the 70% plus he would have normally gotten and to my knowledge there was no nationwide exit poll taken, probably only some local ones, so the percentage could be much more or much less. I am doing a check from across the country through Tea Party groups to find just how many exit polls, if any, involving Catholic voters might have been done. In 5 surrounding counties plus mine own no one was polled concerning religious affiliation and how they may have voted. We had only the presidential and one senate seat that was exit polled.

In my county the Catholics are predominately conservative and since obama lost by a greater margin than 2008, one could conclude that some liberals failed to vote for him this time.

I can only conclude that your 50% is highly suspect and may include but a few "selected" polling areas.

I wondered about that too. Turns out the Catholics who attended mass more or were more likely to participate in church activities were more inclined to not vote for Obama. Once a year Catholics and those who had less active religious participation tended to vote for him. Not sure on if that was the same trend among Protestant denominations.

In other news the bishops are still not giving up:
