In the UK
1. Robbie Williams? Angels
2. the Frank Sinatra anthem My Way
Among other popular British choices were Bette Midler?s Wind Beneath My Wings as well as Amazing Grace.

Norway?s favourites include Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Viva Las Vegas by Elvis.

Germans favour guitar-led songs by bands such as AC/DC and Metallica to be played at their funeral.

The French top five was dominated by French music.

Italy's top choice was Mozart?s Requiem.

Spaniards and Finns prefer Albinoni?s mournful Adagio For Strings.

Eric Clapton?s Tears in Heaven was No 1 for funerals in Sweden.

In Denmark, local talent Kim Larsen topped the bill with Om Lidt Bli?r Her Stille the most requested funeral music.

Queen?s The Show Must Go On was voted No 1 funeral song by one in five Europeans, with Led Zeppelin?s Stairway to Heaven coming in second and AC/DC?s Highway to Hell third.

The 20,000 British participants in the poll clung on to their ironic side with nearly one in five of those polled choosing to have Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from the Monty Python film Life of Brian.

Shamalama says: there will be a CD of the pipes playing Amazing Grace at mine. As a matter of fact, the entire memorial (I will be cremated and converted into a diamond - http://www.lifegem.com/ ) has already been written and the music is recorded and ready. I don't want to cause any undue burden on my heirs.

The songs that I have told people that I want sung/played at my funeral:

"Amazing Grace" and "Highland Cathedral" on the 'pipes
"How Great Thou Art"
"Nearer, My God To Thee"
"On Eagles' Wings"
"Lord of The Dance"
"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" (a favorite of mine)
"Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye" (I can't help it! I'm a White Sox fan!)

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

None of that serious stuff for me. Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet. Make my funeral a party with Margaritas and home brew for everyone. beer_mug.gif

Normal is a relative term. For some reason it is not a term my relatives use to describe me.

first of all, this was pretty much discussed on another thread.
secondly, I actually considered not having any type of service for me: just cremate me and plant me in the ground. In fact I have no idea where I would want my ashes spread.

But anyway, that idea was not met with much enthusiasm.
At the Ohio Highland Games, there is a moment to remember associates of the Games and whatnot that have passed on in the past year. This is typically done after the massed bands play. Amazing Grace is played by 600+ pipers and drummers. It is so awesome!
