Just got back from the Hughestown Celtic Cultural Faire near Wilkes Barre, Pa. I normally wouldn't drive all the way out there for such a new and small Celtic gathering, but the Tartan Terrors were the headliners and I can't pass up a chance to see them.

Since Hughestown is a heavily Irish town, the local firehouse needed a fundraiser to rebuild a new firehouse, which had burned down. The fireman came up with the idea, that they would have a Celtic Fest and a Fireman's Parade. The only problem with all of this is, the town forgot to show up.

It's really to bad, because this had potential to be a really good show. They had some terrific vendors. One of my favorites was Sabrina from http://www.theinkwitch.com/ Sabrina informed me that she was commissioned by Clann An Drumma to do a ink drawing of the group and prints will be made up that will eventually be sold on the Clann web page. Another vendor that had some interesting products was Dreams of Leather, http://www.dreamsofleather.com/ Don't be fooled by the opening of their web page. They make some very nice leather goods and will custom make anything leather for you. I for one, will be ordering a leather beer mug that they make.

I have five cd's that the bands gave to me that will be sent on to Paul for playing on CR. The Tartan Terrors gave me the three newest and Wyndfall gave me two. I had never heard of Wyndfall before and they were rather impressive, http://www.wyndfallrecords.com/ Laurie Reese was outstanding on cello. She did her Jimmy Hendrix impression and blew the small crowd away. Husband, Tom Reese, on flute, was just as awesome to listen to. Chris Laughery, on guitar was the voice of the trio and sung some celtic songs that I had never heard before.

As for The Tartan Terrors, they are just as funny as any other time that I have seen them and just the most accommodating bunch of folks. When I get the film developed, I'll post the exclusive CR picture of the WHOLE band, posing with their Jello shots.

I would really like to go back to this little fest next year, tentative dates will be early July. Maybe the town will wake up next year and find out what they missed this year.
