A few weeks ago, I caught the tail end of an episode of Monarch of the Glen, and it caught my interest. I decided to go ahead and record a full episode. My wife and I really enjoyed it, so we decided to rent the first season from Netlix. I must say, that it is one of the most wonderful drama series I've ever watched. It's made me fall in love Scotland. I've really never seen much of Scotland, and this show has opened my eyes to it's awesome beauty.

The show is very well made, and is very captivating. The Glenbogle Estate is (the fictitious estate in the show) is breathtaking. We should be getting season two in the mail this week. Unfortunately, only season 1 & 2 have been released thus far, yet they are airing season 6 on BBC. hopefully more will be released soon, and we can get our fix. smile.gif

I really have a strong desire to travel to Scotland now, in addition to Ireland.

For anyone interested, here is the real "Glenbogle Estate"

That sounds great, Brian! I will check it out soon - I am trying to whittle down my Netflix list a little more before adding anything to it. Some others that I have found hilarious are "Vicar of Dibley", and "As Time Goes By" - I think that is what it is called, with Dame Judi Dench. Great show. I also love the show "Keeping Up Appearances".

I love The Vicar. So how many movies in your Netflix Queue? We have 173!

You won't regret it if you do rent it. Let me know what you think of it when you do. smile.gif

I love Monarch, I've seen all the episodes to date and bought series one on DVD.

Duncan (Hamish Clarke) is my hero biggrin.gif and it was really him running around in a kilt that led to me doing the same and chucking away all my trousers.

Such a shame he's sold off is kilt!

I really enjoy it too! It always bugged me that Hector, Molly, and Archie have such an English accent. My favourite characters are Duncan and Lexie (she's a babe!). I'd love to see more interaction with Scottish locals in the show. But it is a cute and fun show. Our PBS station shows it but we are two seasons behind, so if anything major has happened, please don't give it away here. wink.gif

Caution...this may be a spoiler to some....if so...read no further!

I must have assumed he was keeping it, because of what he had said: "'They are giving me the kilt and the leather jacket and the sporran. And I definitely want them because they are Duncan. I was going to buy an old wooden dressmaker's dummy for them as those clothes are also part of my own history. But then I though I would just look like a complete a**e having my own costume on a model in my front room." I did not know he sold them. Was it for charity? If that's the case, I can understand.

Duncan is one of the best characters. I also like Golly and Molly. I've only seen Paul in one episode, but I think I'm going to like him too.
