Well Ontario just had a Provincial Election and the Liberals (my party) won so we now have the first elected Female Premier in our History and I say well done. |

Well it is 4:46 pm and I just got home from the court and it is now legal my grandson is now A.J. McArthur-Milne.
Now my task begins getting to know him better and accepting him. Methinks it has started as he gave me a big hug and said "Thank you POPA. Damn they sure can get to you. |

Big day to-day as the Family is off to the court house in Milton to finalized the adoption of my Grandson A.J. Once this is done it will be official and he will be a part of the Family. My oldest and her hubby are pretty excited about this and I am happy for them. My ex is also all a dither about this. Me, well there is still a bit of reluctance. I'll get over it as I get to know A.J. better. |

I read in the papers all this talk about Scottish Independence and other members going on about how the Scots should be free. Reminds me of the Separatists here in Canada. The province of Quebec keeps electing the PQ into [power every few years and we go through threats of referendum. It's getting to the point where the rest of Canada is sick and tired of it . Even when the PQ manages to hold a referendum they get beaten but it doesn't stop them from trying and trying and trying ad nauseum. One of theses days the R.O.C. is going to say leave and don't let the screen door slap you in the ass on the way out. |

To-day my bubby Sammy died. He was pretty sick with Feline Leukemia and he died in the Vets' office while I held him. He died naturally as he just stopped breathing while I was petting him. Sammy was 12 but I only had him for 9 months. Before I took him he was my youngest daughters cat that she got from the cat rescue society. In just 9 months he managed to worm his way into my heart and even though I expected it I still cried like a baby when he left. There is a poem about a "Rainbow Bridge" where our pets play while they wait for us to join them. I hope it is true. Good-Bye Buddy see you soon. |

Shadows I hate to admit that in some respects I am not up on the History of Great Britain but it is my understanding that the Kingdom Of Scotland and the Kingdom of England through commissioners set by both agreed to join and become one in May 1707. |

Methinks Putin has visions of being the 21st century's version of Peter the Great. Doesn't take much to change Petrograd to Vladograd. |

Personally being a Scot by birth I would like to see Scotland Independent but before jumping from one bad situation to another I think Scotland and her people should think long and hard about the possibility of staying in the Union but with some significant political and economics changes. There, after all only 5 million in Scotland and a few other European country with the same population and situation with more in the diaspora than on home soil have had a difficult time since their independence ie. Croatia. |

Paula my oldest sent me an e-mail saying that on April 25 I along with other friends and family are invited to attend the finalization of A.J.s' adoption at the Milton Court House. Well that is it as A.J. will become an official and legal member of the family. Can't get the Blood thing out of my mind. Never realized I could habour a prejudice like that. I really like the kid but he is not nor will he ever be Blood. I will however play the part and maybe over the next few years come to accept him. Got to admit though it is a bit of a shock realizing I could feel this way. Just not me but there it is staring me in the face. |

It has been rather balmy the last 3 days only to wake up this morning with the temp heading for the basement and the wind blowing cold. Right now it is +1C with a wind chill of -7+C. I am really starting to detest winter. |

Last Xmas 2012, my oldest and her hubby adopted a 12 year old boy and I became a grandfather in a fashion. I just received an e-mail from the oldest letting me know that the final court hearing and confirmation is on the 25th of this month. I am very 'happy for all of them but I have some reservations about becoming a granddad in this fashion. I fully expected to get grandkids 'the regular way. Don't get me wrong my grandson is a fine young man but the problem lies in I hardly see him as he is busy with school and all sorts of activities. He is in the Air Cadets and just got promoted to Leading Cadet 1st class. I don't think the states has this sort of programs like we have in the Army Cadets (that's what I was in) Sea Cadets (Squids), and Air Cadets (Pigeons). Its great fun and you also learn the military essentials. Any way I'm happy that A.J. is in the Air Cadets, although I would have preferred he join the Army Cadets and carry on the family tradition. I know or a least hope that if I get to know A.J. better I will accept him. |

Skeets;
An E-Scooter is an electric powered scooter that sort of looks like a Vespa. Mine does 45 kph (30mph) and has a range of 140Km. (80miles). Up here in the True North you do not 'need a drivers license or insurance nor do you have to register them. For old farts like me the are great for getting around town.
OK a Harley they ain't and if I showed up at my daughters on one she would kill me before I got off it. She is convinced that I am going to kill myself on my scooter. Something about 2nd childhood. |

I was about to comment on the fact that it didn't seem like the old forum I first belonged to. It seems that a lot of the people from that time have moved on or have just forgot. I loved the forum except when a certain individual tried to make it to political which annoyed me and I left. Shouldn't have done that. |

No I don't think the axis has changed nor have we slowed down. Your lucky you should have been here in Nov. & Dec. and witnessed the prelude to the Harshest coldest winter we have had in 30 years and it ain't done yet . It is now 9:42 a.m. and we are at the high for the day -4c or 25F. Suns shining but it is cold. We are getting hit with the North wind coming right of the Polar cap. Old Boreas musty be laughing his butt off. |
