He's from the Isle of Mull.

Not folk music as such, but a brilliant musician....    He's still not that widely known, but he will be............

I love this band though I don't know much about them (Colin MacIntyre singer songwriter, Alan Malloy bassist, Tony Soave drummer, Colin MacPherson keyboardist).
They play a kind of brilliant acoustic pop and for sure they'll become famous sooner or later. The band is based in Glasgow and the Mull Historical Society is a real organization that exists on the island.

You can legally download some of their music on the website : www. epitonic.com

(On that website all the music you can download is provided by the artists themselves. They agreed to give one or more songs to be downloaded, so no problem, you can discover lots of new or even confirmed talents !)

Don't hesitate, listen to Mull Historical Society !

Hi Catriona !

Yes indeed you are right ! Colin MacIntyre is really from the Island of Mull ! And the band is named after a real Mull organization.

Colin MacIntyre is no longer alone in the Society and they work in Glasgow. Their second album was released in March 2003 under the tittle "Us" ! The first CD is "Loss" released in 2001 !

Which CD have you got ?

I've found I've got both! But the one I was referring to was 'US'.

BTW, those people you name 'appear' with him, and the CD notes acknowledge them as appearing on tracks, along with other musicians - but HE is the MHS.... He started the band, writes and arranges all the music and produces the albums.... Sometimes he has just 3 or 4 musicians with him - other tracks he has 12. I saw him in concert and he must have had 8-10 musicians on stage with him.

If you do a google search, I am sure you would be able to find some of the interviews he has given - where he states that MHS is one man....!

I thought he'd have captured the imagination of a larger audience by now, but hardly anyone seems to know who Colin MacIntyre IS....!

Hi Catriona,

And thanks for all this information you brought here. How was the concert you saw ? In the French musical press, there were a few articles about Mull Histirical Society and all of them were very favourable of the band. I wish to see MHS live in 2004 ! smile.gif

Cheers !
